🌟HAPPY FRIDAY NEWS🌟 In January HIT Leadership was set the task of supporting Falcon Support Services by lifting 365 tonnes in 36.5 days. I love a challenge, and what Falcon Support Services does to help homeless people within Leicestershire, so embarked on the journey on 1st Feb 2024. Today, I am proud to say that I have smashed the original target of 365 tonnes and have lifted 385 tonne in 30 days 😁 Let's not forget why HIT Leadership is supporting this charity. - Over 1400 people, in Leicestershire, are currently homeless. - With cuts to Falcon Support Services homeless people are fearing for their lives. - No one wants to be homeless and a vast majority of the time it's out of their control. - Access to much needed support services will be lost - In 2022 rough sleeping increased by %109 - 27'444 meals were cooked for homeless people, by Falcon Support Services in 2023 You can still support this cause by donating using the following link https://lnkd.in/e2ksnzsY Let's support our communities and show people less fortunate than ourselves that we care. DAY 50 Post reminder, two more to go 😀 Every 10 days of my challenge I post a quick reminder of what I'm doing, why I'm doing it and letting people know they can donate. It's day 50 of running 70 days straight to celebrate 70 years of the amazing work of the Samaritans and try raise a few quid in the process to help. Doing this post is poignant as without charities and organisation such as the Samaritans, I might not of being able to write this and sadly my story isn't rare. Each year 1 in 4 of us experience mental health challenges and sadly it's the biggest killer of those aged between 20-34 in the UK. In recent years incidences of mental ill health has risen due to material factors such as austerity, Covid -19 and the cost of living crisis. Every 10 seconds the Samaritans receives a call from somebody struggling, and without the 23,000 volunteers who answer these calls more lives would be lost. So much more needs to be done to address the way we approach mental health, the funding given to services to deal with the crisis, and the conditions leading to these issues. Until this is done, charities like the Samaritans are increasingly stretched and support far beyond their weight thanks to generous individuals who donate time, money and expertise. In today’s ever changing environment mental health and well being is so so important

One thing I'm committed to is volunteering which reflects my dedication to community service and social impact. This is why I decided to hop on the train with the Ewaade Foundation Inc. on the Pad a Girl initiative, to help sensitize and donate pads to girls who can't afford them. we know we can't reach everyone but we are in for the ripple effects. Menstrual hygiene is incredibly important for the health, dignity, and well-being of girls and women. It's about ensuring that they can manage their menstruation safely and healthily, free from discomfort and stigma. At the Ewaade Foundation, we deeply understand the significance of menstrual hygiene. Through the “Pad a Girl” initiative, we are dedicated to providing pads to girls who are unable to afford them. Keir Starmer Framework Charity Homeless Link Homelessness Partnership BCP Shelter A quick thought - how many counties operate a launderette for homeless people to have their clothes cleaned/dried and possibly take a shower at the same time - this is a minimum cost venture. I know every item has a cost but could we not allocate this to a large charitable foundation and possibly offer a change of clothes after washing until their garments are clean. Just a thought but then winter is coming and the people maybe allowed into warmer areas to relax and not feel self conscious enabling these individuals to possibly do a basic or accredited training course or simply just read. How do we make this happen? I know but could you!!!
