LinkedIn let me know that I just surpassed my 9th year at RJ Kelly Company...a drop in the bucket when compared to the company's 70+ year history. Perhaps the most surprising take away: this equates to 25% of my life. Some days, it feels like I just started in my cube by the window. Other days, I struggle to remember what I was even doing before RJK (just kidding, I was shucking oysters on Nantucket, and it was glorious). To recap this exciting 25%: - 44 Acquisitions and 21 Dispositions, totaling 65 transactions. - Acquired 76 Properties and Sold 21 Properties. - Acquired 6,700,000 square feet and sold 3,100,000 square feet, growing the portfolio by over 3,500,000 SF. - Capitalized $950,000,000 worth of acquisitions and developments. Including dispositions would bring this to ~$1.5Bn of deal volume. - Most importantly, we have added countless new teammates and friends to RJ Kelly Co., and we are extremely well-positioned to continue on this trajectory. To the investors, brokers, attorneys, vendors, and everyone else who has helped over the last 9+ years...the best is yet to come!

This month, I’m celebrating my third anniversary as Managing Partner of Wright Hassall.   Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t see hierarchies or titles. Great insights shared at Lowenstein Sandler LLP's #VentureCrush Panel with Afsane Jetha, Marlon Nichols, and Ed Zimmerman yesterday. Here are a few of my takeaways: Pre-mortems as a tool to play defense: Afsane Jetha's teams don't wait for events to happen and do post-mortems. She plans for chaos and figures out how to rise above the noise before events happen.    Importance of a strong salesperson on the founding team: Whether it is bringing in new customers, selling new hires on joining the firm or being able to pitch to VCs, having someone who can pitch on all different levels is key.   Beware of the "business judgement rule"-- especially if you are considering a down-rounds. Ed Zimmerman warned that taking down rounds or making major decisions without considering this, can lead to significant legal trouble in the future, especially Delaware C-Corps.  Definitely something to keep in mind. #venturecrush #vc #privateequity
