Last week, Moir Group hosted an engaging and collaborative breakfast discussion with senior finance leaders and future aspiring CFOs in Parramatta. Going around the room it was interesting to hear the different perspectives from the group. The following were key takeaways from the event.   - The CFO isn’t expected to know everything, but rather focus on collaboration, tap into the expertise of others and establish themselves as thought leaders to drive business performance. - Getting involved in key projects and opportunities to lead change are great ways to harness leadership skills required for the role. - Networking and building genuine relationships with leaders who share similar values to yourself is invaluable for the transition into the CFO role. - Effective CFOs navigate economic uncertainty by embracing change, being agile, having a strategic vision, and by being decisive to drive innovation and growth. - Managing any form of change requires clear communication, education, and active listening. This is made easier through face-to-face interaction with stakeholders and open mindedness from the business in the face of change.  - Successful CFOs lead with empathy and can influence and persuade others by using their strong emotional intelligence and self-awareness. - It’s common for the Financial Controller to now wear multiple hats because of reduced headcount.
