Excellent article. I first contemplated my “leadership philosophy” as part of a course at National Intelligence University in 2016, framing the tenets of service, leadership and humility that ultimately became my Command Philosophy. Teams from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) recently tested the characteristics and capabilities of rapid-setting concrete developed in Europe at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. The tests, conducted by researchers from the Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory, are part of ERDC’s continued efforts to enhance and revolutionize the techniques and technologies used in repairing damaged airstrips and restoring air operations. ERDC conducted experiments using three different rapid-setting concrete products, evaluating their efficacy in supporting aircraft traffic within just two hours of placement. Monitoring and documenting the long-term performance and durability of these products will guide future improvements and applications, further enhancing the readiness of airfield operations. Leveraging the unique capabilities of the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), the North Atlantic Division and the Baltimore District are one step closer to reopening commercial shipping operations in Baltimore. Weeks after a cargo ship collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, tragically killing six and shutting down one of the nation’s busiest commercial port operations, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has validated plans to open a bypass channel, working with ERDC and the Association of Maryland Pilots. While narrower and shallower, the bypass channel will soon allow large commercial vessels to enter and exit the port, while not interfering with vital salvage operations. But before the first ship makes the transit, the new route and the placement of buoys were tested by ERDC’s Ship/Tow Simulator, part of the Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory. A good friend of mine Daniel Ramsden has been messing around with prompt engineering around image generation recently. He sent me this last night, it's an interesting view of the future of military combatics. It gave me a lot to think about when we consider the future of the force. We get caught up with who owns the requirement, what are we improving, and how we justify spending. But how we truly just create a catalyst for progress for the shake of progress. Progress will bolster our industrial base, economy, and support the overall American dream with proper vectoring as well as increasing our global security. Supporting the community and the American people with our relationship isn't often considered when we are making decisions on future capabilities... but they should. #innovation #future
