Charting a Sustainable Course: Midweek Reflections 🌊🚢 As I posed for my photo at the helm of the Stad Amsterdam, the very act felt symbolic of the greater journey we're embarking on in San Francisco. I was reminded of our city's path towards a sustainable future—a future where innovation help protect and cleanses our waterways and circular economies thrive ♻️. In recent days, I've had the honor of representing San Francisco in different discussions aboard this magnificent vessel. I spoke on the expansion of new policies, technologies and innovation to rejuvenate and protect our precious waterways and engaged with the Dutch government and local business partners to learn and share how we jointly advance best practices for a circular economy in our built environment 🤝🌐. These conversations are more than exchanges of ideas; they are initiating necessary ripples of worldwide action. They signify our city's unwavering commitment to environmental leadership and the collaboration that will be needed to execute on a global scale 🌍. As we navigate towards these ambitious and important goals, I feel so fortunate to be part of a growing coalition steering us towards a greener tomorrow 🍃. What an incredible privilege it has been to connect with a room full of passionate minds, visionary organizations, and innovative businesses at the Green Building Council South Africa Convention this week! The energy and dedication toward sustainable development have been truly inspiring. A special highlight was seeing our development in Stellenbosch, Newinbosch, taking the spotlight on stage during talks by our esteemed partners at Ecolution. We are so thankful for their dedication and commitment to our shared vision of sustainability. The discussions, insights, and collaborations during this convention reaffirm our belief that impactful change stems from collective effort and shared values. It's moments like these that remind us of the power of collaboration and the importance of driving positive change together. The convention's theme, 'The Year of Your Space,' resonates profoundly. As captured on their website: "How we think about and define space is important in the built environment. In its many shapes and sizes, it has a direct and significant impact on people and nature. It moves, it builds, it grows, it teaches, it plays – space is a transformative part of our everyday lives. It’s through rethinking space that we’re bringing buildings and places to life that redefine the built environment." As we unpack and reflect on this theme, we're challenged yet again to rethink how spaces are defined, bringing to life buildings and places that redefine our surroundings and harmonize with nature. Reef-World believes that champions within local coral reef communities around the world can solve the current coral reef health crisis. Reef-World aims to discover and listen to these champions – together we will develop and make accessible the tools and resources needed to take action to reduce local direct threats to coral reefs, thus building their resilience and health.
