Great news for the City of Detroit & DDOT team today. Thanks to Veronica Vanterpool and Federal Transit Administration for making the trip to Detroit. This nearly $36M investment ($30.8M from FTA and $5M from MDOT) will allow the City to purchase 21 hybrid buses along with 4 ZE hydrogen buses and refueling infrastructure. (Our first project adding hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles to the City fleet.) Shout-out to the team members from the City, DDOT, WSP, TMD, and MDOT for everyone's contribution in pulling our zero emissions transition plan and grant application together. Congratulations on the grants and intentional action towards decarbonizing the city fleet! It's very cool that Detroit is leveraging H2 in its zero emissions transition. I would love to talk more about Detroit's plans for fueling and infrastructure when you have some time.
Congrats Detroit! Thrilled that WSP could be part of your decarbonization journey!
Congratulations to the City of Detroit and Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) on this great news!

1moThe hydrogen component has real potential to benefit the economy and thus citizens. Hydrogen technology also does not have as many problems with rare earth minerals and hazardous mining and waste disposal.
