Believe it or not, I think that the monologue introducing the premise of the TV show "The A-Team" is a prime example of what I aim for in the opening page of a brief. Succinct. Each word essential and evocative ("crack" (they are elite), "crime they didn't commit" (justice is on their side), "promptly escaped" (they are experts)). Respects the audience and does not try to define every term, and uses context for meaning ("stockade," "Los Angeles underground," "soldiers of fortune"). A great summary of what is to follow, and contains all the information you needed to know to enjoy the program even if you had never seen a single episode previously. #Montyhallproblem A famous counter intuitive puzzle The Monty Hall problem is a classic probability puzzle based on a TV game show. The problem is as follows: you are a contestant on a game show, and you are given the choice of three doors. Behind one door is a car, and behind the other two doors are goats. You pick a door, say number 1, and the host, who knows what is behind the doors, opens another door, say number 3, which has a goat. The host then asks you if you want to switch your choice to door number 2 or stay with door number 1. #Question-Should you Switch?
