As i reflected my journey as a clinical educator for nursing students over the past two semesters, I've come to appreciate this profound truth behind the statement: "Learning is not the product of teaching; it is the product of the activity of learners." Here are some key takeaways that I've gleaned, and anticipate while continuing learning , in no particular order: 1. Education is not a linear approach but a two way communication process center where knowledge flows freely between educator and learner. In this process, ive come to discovered that role extend beyonds than a mere lecturer. Instead i act as a facilitator, designer and assessor. Thus, the main goal is guiding student towards ownership students on subject and cognition at the end of class discussion. 2. I found to be Active Learning practice is far most effective tool and strategies that will help students retain more information and allow them to express their ideas, opinions, knowledge to a certain topic. It's not enough for students to passively absorb information; they need to engage actively with the material. Through activities such turn and talk, number heads discussions, and hands-on experiences, students not only retain more information but also develop the critical thinking skills necessary for their future careers. 3. Students in every institution are diverse and unique. While some may enter the classroom with a strong academic foundation, others may face significant challenges. These group of people are least deprived, feel lost with their studies and rearmost status in the society. However, these people need help most towards achieving transformation of their lives. As educators, i have learned that it's important to create an inclusive environment where every student feels supported and empowered to succeed, regardless of their circumstances. 4. In traditional educational settings, the spotlight often shines brightly on the teacher. However, active learning focused 60-70% students participation that will allow then develop skills and knowledge. It occurs when students take ownership in their education. By fostering a culture of curiosity, self reliant and becoming independent in their learning we empower them to take ownership and become active participants in their student journey. Finally, As a clinical educator, and as someone who embark in academe space, i embrace chaos and transition towards transformation that will mold and develop me to become an effective educator to my students. At the end of the day, its not what we do that matters most, but the impact we leave at the heart of soul of individual students. #Education #ActiveLearning #StudentEmpowerment #teachingandlearning

💡Being human in education doesn’t have to be sacrificed in the name of “rigor” 🗣️If healthcare students (eg., dental, medical, nursing students) are taught and expected to practice person-centered care, I think those teaching them should practice person-centered education. I have been involved in the world of higher ed for a long time and have seen too many educators treat students as an educational product and seemingly forget they are people with prior experiences and disparite histories. These students have relationships and lives far beyond whatever program or degree they are seeking. They have partners, future families and future mortgages. They have artistic interests and suffer with chronic diseases. Some might give up eating so they can afford their educational supplies. What do you think? Discussions amongst dentists: Part 2 We all know owner docs of PP who can't make ends meet and not surviving PP ownership. Exactly what should these PP business owners do after going through high hurdles to even sell their business if one still wants to be a practicing dentist? Is there any option for them other than joining a DSO as an associate? If anyone has a better solution for these folks other than teaching at DS, public health, prison system... let us know. There are 6500 and more each future year DS graduates who get a license to practice. How many of these are actually competent enough to open their own PP either immediately after graduation or ever? Ya I know some will start blaming DS education or the lack of it and that's just too bad but that no one can change that that fact. The reality is that FEW who graduate is ready to set up their own immediately after graduating or EVER.

As a personal tutor to year 1 medical students I saw the challenges faced as they went from 6th form to university. It would be beneficial for current medical schools to ask questions that are real and gritty, reflective of the challenges students will face: 📛 Given the increased use of remote learning how will you ensure you still develop those interpersonal skills? 📛 How will you meet the challenges of a course where there is more independent learning and required insight into your own limitations? 📛 University life can be daunting, away from family and friends, increased workload, financial demands of rent and paying fees.
