With so much obsession about AI and the future, I find myself fascinated by ways we can re-create amazing experiences from the past and around the world.
I have always been a fan of the 50s and early 60s for the cars, for the music, for the dancing, the clothing and the overall aesthetic. Local to me a few years ago, I was at this event with classic cars, music of the era and people just enjoying a beautiful summer day by the beach.
When I look at the cars of that time and the clothing I think about the craftsmanship, the design, the aesthetic. Even the way, the music of that era makes me feel when I listen to it and dance to it.
Sometimes I feel like we are so focused on making technology do everything that in many ways it’s taking away an element of craftsmanship and creativity where things start to look and feel the same and simply generic.
Although I’m not a huge car fanatic, I can’t think of a recent vehicle that I’ve seen that captures the beauty and interest of some of these vehicles that did at this time. When I think about experience, I think about culture and history. And on a beautiful summer day, being around beautiful classic cars, listening to live music from that time, and dancing in the streets with friends and family is such a great feeling.
AI has its place, but experience is so much more than technology.
It’s about art, and human connection, design, feeling, and an overall mood that’s created in a moment in time.
And in fact, one of the most favored feelings for an experience for many humans is nostalgia.
And so maybe it’s not always about taking the human out and using the technology, but maybe it’s about, creating and reminding people of simpler times and enjoyable moments in their life.
Think about a moment in your life that brings you joy. Share that with someone else and see where they connect the feeling of nostalgia. Now, how can you create an experience that re-creates that feeling?
