Voices of Muslim Women Foundation is hosting a by-donation seminar tonight: Media 101 with Ginella Massa at 6pm PST via Zoom: How to prepare for news interviews and successfully engage media. This webinar will teach interview strategies on how to successfully speak to the news, proactively engage with media and how to respond to media requests. Ginella has been gracious enough to host it this week so that it may be timely for those who are conducting interviews soon. The workshop will cover: - understanding how newsrooms make decisions about what stories to cover and whose voices to include - how to write effective story pitches to get your issues or events covered - interview strategies to help you be in control of the conversation and not get taken out of context or derailed from your message. If you are able to attend, please register on our website: https://lnkd.in/eQG_9qkC Please do share the link with anyone in your network who may benefit from this seminar as well.

The 3rd DC dVET BarCamp put emphasis on the private sector involvement in GESI in their dual VET strategies. The event highlighted crucial factors for success: leadership commitment, early engagement with businesses, and collaboration with associations and NGOs. Sensitization about safe and inclusive environments and building a compelling business case for GESI adoption emerged as persuasive strategies. Addressing community stereotypes was deemed important, and partnerships were emphasized for systematic implementation. During the BarCamp, we had the privilege of exchanging views with Benedikt Metternich, Project Manager at ICEP - Association for Global Development, to discuss the remarkable work being done in collaboration with corporAID in developing countries like Kenya and Uganda. The conversation focused on the essential role of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) in their initiatives. One of the many key insights from the interview: Despite significant strides, challenges persist in fully integrating GESI in training companies. The interview shed light on some primary barriers and steps taken to address them such as designated Tailored Approaches: Individualized paths are essential to recognise private companies' diversity. Meeting each company where they are, CorporAID and ICEP showcase the possibilities of GESI and promote long-term partnerships. Today we are proudly celebrating International Women´s Day (March 8th). A global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women everywhere. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. The theme this year is #inspireinclusion. When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we create a better world for all. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #InspireInclusion. At CPM, we appreciate our female colleagues greatly and value their immense contribution. We always try to encourage inclusivity in every aspect of our organisation; this extends fully to all development opportunities within our company. Today is an important and meaningful day. We would like to share with you an interview that our colleague Refka Smida (Operations Manager at CPM) participated in recently for IWD24. Refka (who is originally from Tunisia) talks about common misconceptions about women in North African Countries, the progress achieved so far and what still needs to be done to #inspireinclusion. We hope you find it interesting. https://lnkd.in/dhgbCmZg

🌍 Did you know there are over 8 billion people living on the planet today, and it's estimated that 10% of the world’s population identifies as LGBTQ? 🌈 🥳 This means when Pete Buttigieg becomes our next 🏳️🌈Vice President, he will lift the opportunities of over 800 million people worldwide! 🌋This monumental step forward is why I’m so excited about the Harris-Buttigieg ticket. 🙏Together, they represent a future where diversity, inclusivity, and equality are at the forefront of our nation’s leadership. Earlier this week, I shared: 📣 "Do you know how much the LGBTQ community contributes to the United States economy? If the LGBTQ community were a country, it would be the 10th largest in the world. This significant economic impact is just one reason why Pete Buttigieg would make a compelling choice for Vice President." Harris – Buttigieg 2024 🤩❤️☀️🏆🔥🙏 📣 "Do you know what this is going to do for LGBTQ rights all over the world? It’s going to get harder and harder to dehumanize someone who is the Vice President of the United States." Harris-Buttigieg 2024 🏳️🌈🤩🏆🙏🔥🎉 Let’s continue to support this incredible team and work towards a brighter, more inclusive future! https://lnkd.in/erSccJjX #HarrisButtigieg2024 #Equality #LGBTQ #Diversity #Inclusion #FutureIsBright

As Julie Inman - Grant, the eSafety Commissioner, said, “Tech companies also need to be more accountable for user safety, especially the impacts of harmful recommender algorithms. These systems can result in young people being served increasingly damaging content that can erode respect for oneself and others, as well as perpetuate ideas rooted in misogyny. We need industry to take a more proactive Safety by Design approach by considering the risks their systems and platforms may pose at the outset and design in appropriate guardrails, including actively preventing young men from being drawn into an endless spiral of harmful echo chambers.” #genderedviolence #genderbasedviolence #GBV https://lnkd.in/gNDHub_J
“In the age of social media, young men are grappling with manhood and masculinity, and the internet can drive both positive connections and dangerous ideas.” Our new study delves into the experiences of more than 100 young men aged 16 to 21 years through 25 focus groups and 25 follow-up individual interviews, making it one of the most in-depth investigations into the contemporary online lives of young men in Australia.
