Last Thursday evening, the Sanford Area Growth Alliance’s Chamber of Commerce got “Caught In the Web!” 🕸️ We had a unique session of Business After Hours in partnership with the Sanford Spinners. 🕷️ Our local baseball team was formed post World War II in 1946 and has been revived in recent years. The most recent iteration of the Spinners is owned by Al Anderson and managed by Carl Bryan, Ed.D. (or, as he is better known around town, “Mr. Wendy Bryan (Director of Visit Sanford).” Bryan’s team consists of an array of college baseball players vying for more playtime to improve their stats over the summer; because they are from all over the United States, they live with host families during their time in Lee County. 🏠 Bryan has revamped the team’s presence in our community, giving game nights a new energy with local food trucks including Broadway’s Pop Heaven, an adorable bat dog, and even karaoke during each inning. Our BAH included free popcorn from Pop Heaven, introductions from several team members, raffle prizes including Spinners merch of all kinds, and our CEO, Jimmy Randolph, throwing the first pitch! Be sure to catch one of their games this season! What is your favorite local sports team? Tell us in the comments below! #community #baseball #shoplocal #sports #summer #summerfun #funinthesun #sanfordspinners #getcaughtintheweb

Has anyone else been captivated on Instagram Reels by the Savannah Bananas. No? Just me? As a big baseball fan, I couldn't help but pay attention to how they add SO much more to the already amazing game of baseball. I love Heather 's question asking how we can follow their creativity with our own jobs. In marketing, we are constantly challenged to make things look fresh...make them look new...make them draw more attention....and oh yeah, don't spend too much doing so 😊. I consider finding the solution one of my super powers as a marketer. #creativemarketing #marketing
I just heard about the Savannah Bananas as they are coming to Milwaukee in September. I was already excited to go... but now I am even more jacked to see how they turned a normal game of baseball into something different, something that is a new experience. How can we do that in our everyday job?

Learn more about how enthusiastic Americans are about football by reading top football journalist tales. Football is an excellent way to stay in shape and improve your reflexes. Kick a ball around in the yard with your friends or start a game. Now is the time to get a ball, if you don’t already have one. What are your plans for commemorating this wonderful American pastime? HOW TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL FOOTBALL DAY: 🏈 Start a football competition! Nothing brings a business together like a friendly wager, and what better way to get everyone engaged than to make it competitive? You can also find a friend or family member to join you in a football competition. The more the merrier! 🏈 Invite your friends to game nights The best way to commemorate National Football Day is to watch a football match, especially one in a league. Support your favorite team to win the trophy and get your friends to cheer them on as well! 🏈 Participate in a league! Several local leagues are seeking capable, strong-bodied players to join their ranks. In fact, there are probably several leagues that require average, soft-bodied athletes to fill out their rosters; this is your chance to shine! While many of us enjoy and participate in other sporting events during the year.....no other event puts us in a mood for Fall like Football! The significance of this day, is that we will start the official countdown to the first kick off for both The Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers!! Last night was a heartbreaking end to an incredible run by the Georgia Bulldogs. Hats off to a gritty Alabama team that keeps finding ways to win. Regardless of last night’s results, Georgia is a great football team because it knows success isn't solely defined by streaks or setbacks. When asked about the Bulldog’s historic winning streak after they beat Tennessee earlier in the season, coach Kirby Smart responded, “I’m focused on Georgia Tech.” Like Kirby and the Bulldogs, real success is about staying focused on the next step and emphasizing one game at a time. I grapple with the same emotions in my own life: the elation of wins and the apprehension after losses. Yet, sustained success is about embracing setbacks, learning, and emerging stronger. In both football and life, it's crucial not to dwell on past victories or succumb to naysayers. Instead, give your best in each moment, each opportunity. Success is found in relentless dedication to the next 60 minutes on the field—your next challenge. #SuccessMindset #Resilience #ForwardThinking

#BusterOlney posted this "Within other organizations, there is a lot of disgust with how the A’s have handled the ballpark situation — especially when there’s no actual ballpark plan settled in #LasVegas. And there is an assumption the A’s will tank in the next few years, because their #revenuestream will be down to a trickle. 'This makes us all look bad,' said one person." Lets be honest the Oakland Athletics would not be in this situation if it wasn't for these so called "other organizations." They unanimously #approved #Vegas without a legitimate plan for #JohnFisher and #DaveKaval. Also, it is not like Fisher has not relied on "revenue sharing," signed their top prospects to long-term deals, or done anything to continue to keep the A's competitive when the franchise started winning. So who has enabled the #Athletics? Those who are now complaining about a team that is willing to play for at minimum in a #minorleagueballpark for three seasons, possibly more while a nonexistent stadium in another state may not even come to fruition. While completing ignoring that the city of #Oakland finally stood ground against the A's. Got nearly $1 billion in funding to build a ballpark at #HowardTerminal. We're not buying what other organizations are saying Buster. Then again it is also sad said person could not put a name to their face for when they said "this makes us all look bad." Sorry but Major League Baseball (MLB) and owners have looked bad for a long time when it comes to the situation regarding Oakland. Funny thing is this all could have been avoided if #MLB had a #legitimateleadership and a #competent #commissioner.

🏈 Michigan's National Championship: A Case of Prioritizing Performance Over Integrity? 🏈 The University of Michigan's recent triumph in the 2023-24 National Championship, amidst a backdrop of a sign-stealing scandal, raises critical questions about the balance between athletic success and ethical conduct in collegiate sports. 🏆 The Victory Amidst Controversy Michigan's victory over Washington, concluding an undefeated season, was overshadowed by a year-long cheating scandal involving sign-stealing. This scandal, ironically grim given the competitive nature of college football, included allegations against a staff member for attending opponents' games to steal signs and led to the eventual suspension of head coach Jim Harbaugh. 🚨 The Ethical Dilemma This situation shines a spotlight on the broader issue in sports: the tension between the relentless pursuit of victory and maintaining the integrity of the game. How do we reconcile the significant achievements of a team with the ethical breaches that may have contributed to its success? Teams have had titles vacated for less (Louisville basketball, anybody?), will similar action be taken here years from now? Or is it a case of "well, everybody does it" and is left alone? 🏅 The Impact on Collegiate Sports Such incidents not only tarnish the reputation of the involved institutions but also raise important questions about the role of governance in collegiate sports. What lessons can be learned about oversight, accountability, and the culture of competitiveness that seems to overshadow fair play? As professionals and enthusiasts in the realm of sports and education, your insights on how we can foster a culture of integrity while celebrating competitive excellence are invaluable.
