It is always a great pleasure to interact with the future generation of technology professionals. Thank you UNSW Engineering (University of New South Wales, Sydney, AUSTRALIA), for inviting me to give a guest lecture on "Autonomous Network - Emerging Telco Trends in Network Management and Operation" to 110 students pursuing their master's degrees in telecommunications, electrical engineering, and computer science. The TM Forum September 2023 'Research Report | Autonomous Network' highlighted that 43% of CSPs (Communication Service Providers) see 'skills and capability' as the biggest challenge in adopting Autonomous Network Operations. They stated, "We do not have the right skills in the internal workforce." https://lnkd.in/g5V6uuGC Yesterday's session was a small contribution to making future Information and Communication Technology engineers aware of the importance of embracing #AI and #GenAI in #AutonomousNetwork operations. #TMF research also suggests that rapidly maturing new technologies, such as GenAI, Cloud-Native-Telco, Telco-Digital-Twin, and management buy-in, will accelerate the adoption of Autonomous Networks. Nearly 60% of CSPs expect to be operating at L3 or L4 in the next three years (by 2028) on the TMF AN maturity scale of L0 to L5. This brings urgency to inspire future telco technology enthusiasts to get ready for designing, implementing and governing Autonomous Network Operations. It was greatly satisfying to see students' inquisitiveness about emerging topics such as #GenAI and #AutonomousNetwork, and its impact on people, processes, and operating models, and how Autonomous Network would help telco customers and businesses at large.
