🔵 FPSA's Outstanding Participation in IPSF EMRO Policy Session 📜 We would like to congratulate 👏 our students for their outstanding participation in the IPSF EMRO policy session, which discussed the crucial topic of access to essential medicines in Sudan. It was a distinguished experience for FPSA to have its voice represented by President of FPSA-IPSF, Raghad Abubakr, and our Contact Person, Raghad Abdallah. The discussion was substantive and impactful, and Sudan was well represented with a position paper titled "Sudan: Enhancing Healthcare Standards and Addressing Medication Shortages during Conflicts," drafted in collaboration with EAPSF. All position papers shared by participating EMRO MOs will be used to draft a resolution on Access to Essential Medicines in EMRO, to be presented at the next GA. We can't wait to see what amazing things our students will achieve next! 🌟 🎉 #Policy_session #IPSF_EMRO #FPSA_IPSF

Out of hospital cardiac arrests #OHCA affect ~55 out of every 100,000 persons every year. They are devastating and leave us with very little to do when victims get to the hospital. What we've learned about survival over the years is that speed matters more than we thought it did and skill matters less than we thought it did, and that is why #FirstResponders programs work. In this meta-analysis, alerting citizen first responders lead to survival to hospital discharge in 1 of every 125 cases (up to 1 in 20 in other studies). While implementing these programs was very difficult when these ideas were first being explored, the maturity of digital services nowadays has made it easier than ever to do so at scale. Doing the math for #SaudiArabia (~45 cases/d), this translates to saving at least 2-3 lives every week. Although this makes it look like a no-brainer and turns away discussions over competing priorities or return on investment, it also makes me wonder: What do you think will be the main challenges for such a program here in Saudi Arabia? Please share your thoughts...
