SCCDS is thrilled to congratulate Shakalpi Pendurkar, DDS, MPH, who has been appointed state dental director of California by Governor Gavin Newsome. In addition to lending her passion and expertise to numerous local health programs and advocacy efforts, Dr. Pendurkar is an active member of SCCDS and has loyally served the society in numerous leadership roles including chairing committees, representing the society on the CDA Board of Component Representatives, and helming as society President in 2022. In this new role, Dr. Pendurkar will lead the Office of Oral Health, focusing on state oral health initiatives, prevention, education, and community outreach.
