TIME IS PRECIOUS, USE IT WISELY: We hear that often, huh? When it comes to work, deadlines, projects, meetings, and responsibilities can keep us all pretty busy. I often devour my lunch at my desk so I can squeese in *one more* Teams meeting or chip away at *one more* thing someone else desperately needs. Time is precious, use it wisely. Yesterday at 1 p.m., our team took time to celebrate Brian DeMarco. He and his wife are about to welcome their third child into this incredible world. Our awesome team enjoyed a sugar rush and shared in laughter and an opportunity to connect. So fun! I will admit that it's sometimes uncomfortable for me to use a conference room for a party rather than a serious meeting. But this week, I had the rare gift of listening to Kelly Woodward, our fearless COO, talk about the trajectory of her 'wow-worthy' career, and she shared two things I hadn't considered in my work life: 1) Her mother was her mentor and role model. "Work hard and do right by people," Kelly shared, and 2) Time is precious. As busy as Kelly is running Houston's airports, she will always make time for the people who matter because time is precious. So I pose this question: time is precious; are you using it wisely? Are you leaning into the people who matter and make your work life better? Are you prioritizing people over tasks and deadlines? Are you truly connecting with others or do you simply see your team as a cog in the wheel? I challenge us all to find a reason to celebrate together because time is precious.

I don't think it's black and white like choose family or choose career. I think it might be in a situation where you choose career for a little while to build up your skills and knowledge and put yourself and your family in position to be financially stable, then scale back a bit on that front to spend more time with family and friends. And sometimes you may need to scale back on career and other things to take care of family members. It's not always a perfect balance. Sometimes, you have to push hard in one area, but don't let the pendulum swing too much to one side for extended periods of time. For a short while, it's ok to drive hard in one area and re-find balance as soon as possible. Balance doesn't mean exactly 50/50, balance looks different for each person.

I think the biggest key to success is surrounding yourself with people who inspire you. Last night I was in a room full of people that inspire me every day to be better not only for myself, but for my clients. This past year with New York Life has developed my professionalism in ways I never imagined, and I can’t wait to see what my team and I accomplish in 2024. Pete Reeves, it's been an amazing year having you on board! 🌟 I still remember that interview a year ago. Peter's passion and dedication was evident from the start. We agreed on a three-month probation period, and boy, did he shine. It was only fair to wait until he officially joined our ranks before singing his praises. Peter and I spend Mondays together, diving deep into business development strategies, dissecting marketing plans, and dissecting industry trends. But it's more than just work; it's a genuine collaboration fuelled by mutual respect and friendship. I Celebrate Your Success Like It's Mine (And You Should Too!) A close friend shared her fantastic news with me—she received a much-deserved job offer. In that moment, amidst the hustle of our fast-paced business world, where personal achievements often overshadow collective joy, we shared a genuine celebration. I hugged her and expressed how thrilled I was, whispering a hopeful prayer that soon, I might share similar news. Guess what? Just a week later, I received my own job offer. It was surprising, yet it felt like the universe conspiring in our favor. This experience taught me that success truly isn't a solo journey but a shared adventure. Lesson learnt: 🚀 **Celebration over Competition** Be genuinely happy for others and don't hate them. It's not about 'me,' but 'us.' It's about pushing forward together, not pulling each other down. Celebrating other's successes instead of hate. 🤝 **Trust the Process** Each of us is on a unique journey. Comparing your chapter 1 to someone else's chapter 20? It serves no purpose. Instead, trust your own process and know that your time will come. 📈 **Win Together, Lose Together** In a truly collaborative environment, we all win together. And yes, sometimes we lose together too. Don’t pull others down to reach the top; extend a hand and climb together. Toot Your Own Horn… 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ The other day, I was asked what are some of my notable accomplishments. 🤔😬 Hmmm… I’ve always just preferred for people to watch me in action than ask me this question (as sometimes I tend to sell myself short 🫣) Also, is it really “notable” when I’m just doing my job? But there is actually a difference. I haven’t just been doing “the job”. In some instances, I have been ‘passionately’ doing it🌺 #Above & #Beyond … and a few times my peers try to drum this in my ear 🫣 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ Fast forward to yesterday when I was scrolling through my LinkedIn feeds. I saw some former team members and couldn’t help but reflect & grin with pride on how far they have come. In my reflections, I remembered some battles fought: from a performance & career development point of view. Some of them knew about it, some didn’t. But none really knew the depths. That’s definitely one of the highlights in my career 🤗 - creating successful growth paths for the team (even if just a few). If you ask me, this is one good way to end a stressful week, if you are having one. Reflect on your achievements, give yourself your flowers 💐, toot your own horn because you are doing amazing work and never stop breaking boundaries. 💪🏽

Don’t do it for the spotlight... 3 weeks ago I hired my first employee after a 2 hour hike with my family in the Greek mountains. Today I went for a leisurely lunch while overlooking the Mediterranean and then had a super productive work day. Next week, I'm redoing my business plan to relaunch my company Rise Remotely while viewing properties in Spain for my future home. There have been some big milestones in my work recently and I am celebrating by living my life as I normally do. When you work without trying to prove something to someone, you create momentum. When you have a system with momentum, you grow without stopping. Yes, by all means, celebrate your wins. However, don't work to pop that bottle of champagne and share it on social media. Work to have a lifestyle where you don’t have the need to celebrate every win because you’re so content with your life, every day already feels like a celebration. Working so hard that your day-to-day life dosen’t feel magical is a trap. Working hard to enjoy every single day of your life, including heavy, jam-packed work days - that’s when life gets magical. That’s where momentum comes. That’s when you set the foundations to build a life that inspires you and others. Who’s striving towards this? Let me know in the comments 

Absolutely, recognition in the workplace or any group setting is indeed about more than just tangible rewards. It’s about feeling valued and knowing that your contributions are making a difference. When people feel recognized, they’re often more motivated, engaged, and committed to continuing their good work. It fosters a positive environment where everyone can thrive and feel like an integral part of the team’s achievements. Major props to one of the giants of ResProp Management, Angela Aguilar, celebrating her five-year anniversary with our team!  👉 Angela is a standout leader in so many ways. Most importantly, she’s a servant leader – she’s always hyper-attentive to the needs of the teams she leads, and digs in to help them get the work done – never afraid to dive deep and help push things forward. 💥But Angela is also a fierce competitor.  Think about the affect Michael Jordan had on anyone who played on the same court–he elevated everyone’s game. On Michael’s court, you can't just show up and play–you come and give it your ALL. 👉 Same with Angela – when she commits to anything, it instantly motivates the team and suddenly they find a new gear to complete something that was previously unreachable. It’s a pleasure to work with you Angela – it’s been great fun (with a huge dose of HARD WORK) to build out ResProp with you.  Last word here – Angela’s work ethic is unmatched. You literally have to peel her away from her work. This passion is infectious and again, is something that motivates everyone around her.
