My classrooms always look like this. Students talking to each other, and me just wandering around...a good model for student centered learning. Note the you can see some triangle tent cards on the tables. At Kyungil University at this time, I had quite a few students, but I wanted to know everyone's name. So, the first week of class, we created little name placards students could put on their desk. They decorated these, added their student ID numbers (helpful for recording observation information), and more. Within a month, I knew everyone's name and had great rapport. It made it easy to curate #Englishlanguagelearning experiences that were effective for helping these A1 level students move towards A2 levels of proficiency during our courses. It's hard to believe this was more than 10 years ago! #tbt #throwbackthursady #teacheing #taskbasedlearning #EFL #ESL #futureoflearning

I called them "toblerones". I had one with my first name on and I got the students to make their own. I made them by cutting used A4 in half and the A5 folded in half with the top cut through about an inch. It meant I could use the students names when I spoke to them all the time from the very beginning so after a couple of weeks i knew all their names. (There were never more than 15 in each class)
