Avoid including, I repeat, DO NOT include your profile picture on your resume/CV. 4. Connect with people you know and network on LinkedIn. 5. Start applying and be patient. 6. There is not enough sincerity on Linkedin. Too often if you want to know what people think you should go to Twitter. I appreciate people who aren't afraid to share their honest opinions and authenticity here, they enrich us as professionals and humans. I truly believe that it's totally possible to be honest and polite simultaneously. These "I'm happy to be laid off" posts are understandable because people want to look optimistic and appealing to potential employers. However, it's not very interesting to read not real thoughts but positive affirmations and similar ads. I know that being laid off can be incredibly stressful for many people. Too often it feels like a failure of plans and hopes. Combined with financial obligations, instability, and a precarious position, this can be overwhelming. I sympathize with you and believe that you will overcome this difficult time.

**Navigating Layoffs and Staying Positive 🌟** Layoffs are tough - for both employees and employers. They bring unexpected changes and emotional turbulence. However, here are some tips to stay resilient and hopeful during such times: 1. **Acceptance** - Recognize your emotions. It's natural to feel upset, angry, or even lost. 3 very easy things you can do right now to help folks you know who were impacted by layoffs: 1. Endorse. Write a review. I don't care if it's been 5 days or 5 years since you worked with this person. I guarantee people actually look at these and it takes less than a few mins to do. 2. Connect. Think of 1 person you know who you can make a connection with -- a recruiter, a hiring manager, or someone with influence at a company. Reach out on their behalf. 3. Recirculate. Share resources and job posts. Comment on people's posts for reach. I know it sounds dumb and stupid and we all want to be a cool kid who doesn't care about LinkedIn but this is THE PLACE for people to make these connections. If you are well-wishing and not DOING, you are not HELPING.

I thought the same thing after 27 years at the same company, kicking ass in all the work I was involved in, working through any challenges as they came, and seeing the value in the work my team was producing. For those friends and former colleagues affected by recent layoffs, I am truly sorry. These almost 100% of the time are miserable, and you're going to go through some emotions. I encourage you, if able, to take a step back and rest before starting the job search. Feel free to reach out to me if you need to talk. When ready, energize your network and start working contacts. When you find a role you like, apply through the company's website (you know what I mean). Reach out to your network folks that work there and have them put in a good word. As I scroll through my feed, I can’t help but notice posts about layoffs at multiple companies. It saddens me, knowing how many talented professionals woke up, went to work, and suddenly became unemployed. It goes to show that the industry can be unpredictable. Let’s not choose to react defensively and choose to support one another instead; you never know what someone is going through. Friends and colleagues who are affected by the recent wave of layoffs, please feel free to reach out to me for a friendly chat if you feel like! We have open vacancies but even if you don't want to join us, I might be able to run through my network and see if there's anything for you! I was talking to some of you Today and this whole situation is really saddening and it almost seems like the new modus operandi in the industry... However, it's important to remember that it's you creating those products! It's your talent, which you still have and no one can take it from you! There are opportunities out there for talented and hard working people and as difficult as it is, some of you should not rule out the option of teaming up and bootstrapping something new! It is not easy for sure, but it might provide you with more freedom to craft your own path, and you're maybe a bit less directly exposed to big industry players! If you're contemplating that idea, I know a few who have done that and I'm happy to share experiences both good and bad! ;) Either way, I'm wishing you all the best, please keep your heads up! In reality, the way we feel about the world is not defined by past events, but by the values and people you appreciate at the very moment! ;)
