It's Global Money Week - the annual campaign that raises awareness of the importance of ensuring young people are financially aware. At MyBnk, we recognise that in the current financial climate, with the cost-of-living crisis, digitalisation of money and introduction of new financial services and products, it's easy for young people to become overwhelmed and make ill-informed decisions. Such decisions can make young people more susceptible to scams. This year's theme is 'protect your money, secure your future' and covers the importance of being aware of any risks in the financial sector, including scams, fraud and money muling, and protecting your hard-earned money. This has only intensified during the cost of living crisis. Initiatives that foster financial independence can be transformative - not only diminishing victims’ vulnerability to violence but also empowering them with the means to rebuild their lives. Several banks, including HSBC, Santander, TSB Bank, Metrobank, and The Co-operative Bank plc, provide specialised financial support for survivors of financial abuse, demonstrating a positive commitment to addressing this issue. Moreover, Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA), the only UK charity dedicated to economic abuse, is making significant strides in raising awareness and transforming responses to it.
