Why does one size not fit all with lead generation? Lead generation is the cornerstone of every business, big or small. Yet, despite its importance, lead generation is a universal pain point for most businesses. Managers often: ➖ chase quick fixes, ➖ mimic what worked for others, ➖ or jump on the latest trends. But here’s the truth: there’s no one-size-fits-all solution for lead generation. At its core, lead generation is about identifying and nurturing potential customers who are interested in your products or services. It’s the first stage of your sales funnel, which means that without leads, there is no funnel. Without a steady stream of leads, your business will struggle to grow, no matter how great your product is. It’s tempting to rely on strategies that have worked for others or are 'best practices.' However, what works for one business may not work for another. Factors like your target audience, business goals, budget, and stage of growth all influence the effectiveness of your lead generation strategy. I’m sure it’s nothing new to you if I compare company A, with an established customer base, to company B, a start-up at the beginning of its lifecycle. But even if companies A and B were both start-ups at a similar stage of their lifecycle, selling similar products, their strategies would still differ. Why is that? Firstly, there are additional factors that matter, such as audience, goals, and budget. And secondly, at the end of the day, we are dealing with people. One business owner/manager may need different strategies based on what’s happening in THEIR life, independent of the company. They may need a different strategy depending on their character, past experiences, and other factors. Additionally, you may have several such stakeholders involved. It’s a complex situation! At its core, you need a unique strategy for every single business you deal with. While certain aspects can be adapted, you will rarely find a blueprint that is an 80% to 100% fit. What’s crucial is understanding that your business is unique, and so should your approach be. Lead generation is also about identifying what works for you right now. Start by focusing on the low-hanging fruit—strategies that deliver quick wins and immediate returns. These early successes will generate revenue that you can then reinvest. 1️⃣ Quick wins: What tactics can bring in leads quickly? These could include optimising your website, launching targeted PPC campaigns, or initiating a calling campaign. 2️⃣ Scale from success: These tactics then kick off your momentum engine. At this point, you need to put ‘fuel under the fire’ to scale with the next best-fitting strategy that suits your situation The most effective lead generation strategies are those tailored to your business’s specific needs. Rather than copying what worked for others, focus on what works for you now and build upon that. So, do yourself a favour and throw out the cookie-cutter. 🍪

3 reasons why copywriters are still in the game 😉✨ Why are there still copywriters around?? 1️⃣ AI's lack of humanness Copywriting is different from writing reports or formal letters; it requires emotion to connect with an audience. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you see it, Generative AI currently relies on a blueprint to recreate (or approximate) emotive content. The blueprint of a pattern of what's come before. This blueprint is what makes AI-generated marketing copy so easily recognisable. All the "right" elements are in all the "right" (same) places, making it look formulaic. Imagine if that weren’t the case—if AI could generate unique, creative, and engaging content. With its self-learning mechanism constantly improving, we’d all gradually become influencers! In reality, most influencers still write their own content from scratch and use Generative AI for specific tasks, such as drafting or outlining. We're talking about writing that resonates on a human level, something AI can't quite grasp yet. 2️⃣ Generative AI is not fully generative AI relies on human prompts to generate outputs. The better and more targeted the prompts, the better the outcome. For AI to work its magic, it needs precise and creative prompts. Rather than making copywriting—or copywriters—redundant, Generative AI has actually created new roles, such as Prompt Engineer. Prompt engineering is now part of a marketer’s toolkit, effectively safeguarding the role of the copywriter. The art of prompting AI is the new skill set to master, blending technical knowhow with artistic flair. 3️⃣ Amplifying the role of a strategist If anything, the skill of copywriting has become more strategic. It's evolved into a role akin to that of a creative director, with Generative AI as just one of the tools in the arsenal. Remember, last year, I even reposted a chart about the jobs most likely to be replaced by Generative AI. Copywriters were at the top! 100% risk of replacement. Yet, here we are, a year later, and little has changed. Possibly, not a single copywriter has been displaced—except for those who were scared off by the dire predictions and chose to move on. The bottom line? AI isn’t putting any creative professions, like copywriting, out of a job just yet. 😉 In fact, this could lead to a post about all the automated AI content generation systems out there that generate content, yet often with minimal engagement.
