💊 #GLP-1 ... know anyone taking them? 🏥 #Diabetes ... May 15, 2024 According to the National Diabetes Statistics Report — Prevalence of both diagnosed and undiagnosed diabetes · 38.4 million people of all ages—or 11.6% of the U.S. population. ⬆ Read that again ⬆ (yikes) We at DarioHealth also saw in a recent study that 81% of HR decision-makers feel that their employees would be interested in GLP-1 medications. But what does all this mean... ❓ Should companies pay for their employees to take these medications? ❓Should we put guardrails in place as to who should be taking them? ❓What's in it for all of us to take back America's health? I'm proud to be at DarioHealth as we help to navigate employees (oh wait PEOPLE) get their lives back. Check out our e-book on GLP-1s: https://lnkd.in/gm-ABM-Y

With a cost of living crisis grilling Australia, all eyes are on the government to see what can be done to bring genuine relief from ever climbing bills. Despite a historic lowering of the general copayment for PBS prescriptions on 1st January 2023 from $42.50 to $30, more patients are finding medicines unaffordable. In a survey by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, there has been an ncrease in people who delayed or didn't get prescription medication when needed due to cost, from 5.6 per cent in 2021-22 to 7.6 per cent in 2022-23. Medicines can be very useful to treat acute illness or manage chronic conditions - but they don’t work if you don’t take them and you can’t take them if you can’t afford them. More work needs to be done to reduce PBS medicine copayments so patients aren’t deciding between taking important medicines for their health and other necessities. https://lnkd.in/gK2CW-GS

Treating #diabetes successfully involves so much more than just analyzing laboratory results every several months. Improved care requires a true understanding of patients’ perspectives, and levels of comprehension and building a long-term relationship. This relationship must foster a comfortable environment where patients will develop trust in their provider and health care system. What patients need from healthcare professionals (HCPs) is sincere empathy. Empathy from our side and trust from theirs are essential. Once a strong patient-provider relationship is established, the likelihood of patients achieving their health goals increases, leading to satisfaction on both sides—healthcare professionals and people living with the condition. Relationships are crucial, and patient education is paramount. Knowledge empowers patients to understand the importance of managing their condition effectively, emphasizing why certain medications are prescribed and why various devices are recommended. Educating patients enables them to grasp the significance of maintaining good control over their diabetes, thereby enhancing their ability to live long and healthy lives. May is hypertension awareness month. High blood pressure costs the U.S. about $131 to $198 billion annually for healthcare expenses, medication, and lost productivity from premature death. Almost half of Americans over 20 have high blood pressure - that’s nearly 108 million people. Hypertension contributes to 500,000 deaths per year and causes many additional illnesses and chronic health problems. That’s a staggering cost and loss of life. RPM has been clinically proven to reduce blood pressure. Controlling high blood pressure across a larger population is one of the greatest things we could do to improve outcomes and reduce healthcare costs. #rpm #remotepatientmonitoring #devices #healthcare #hypertension #bloodpressure #bloodpressuredevice
