TAMO into the semiconductor business: After riding the EV wave, Tata group is now entering to the semiconductor business. As semiconductor chips are brain behind most of electrical equipments whether it is mobile phone or electric vehicles, it is required everywhere. In Dec 2022, N Chandrasekharan chairman of Tata group finally announced, that they are officially entering into semiconductor manufacturing, assembling and testing business. They are investing a big amount about USD 90 bn. Over next five years. Earlier in June 2022 TAMO and Tejas network entered in a strategic partnership with Japanese semiconductor manufacturing company Renesas Electronics Corporation. Oil & Metal giant Vedanta investing $20 billion for two units for chip and display manufacturing. India expects the domestic market to reach $63 billion by 2026 from $15 billion in 2020. #equityresearch #tatamotors

In the global semiconductor market in 2023, Taiwan leads the global semiconductor market by holding 68% of advanced manufacturing capacity. However, by 2027, the share is expected to decline to 60% due to increased production in the US. The leading advanced semiconductor manufacturer is Taiwan's TSMC, which accounted for 60% (nearly $17 billion) of total semiconductor revenue in the first quarter of 2023. The U.S. plans to increase its market share from 12% to 17% by 2027, although more than half of that share will come from foreign companies operating in the U.S., such as Samsung or TSMC.
