Last week, Kristian Branaes and I got to share with Linnea Ahlgren (TNW) what we're building at Transition. We talked about the "translation puzzle" that needs to be solved when (often technically & scientifically trained) climate founders meet/work with VCs. Founders need to be able to paint a picture of what their invention looks like at scale; in a language that VCs can wrap their heads around. Additionally, VCs need to put in the work to dig into the science and understand the scaling challenges (technical, commercial, policy, financial, etc) that these founders might face. 🔑 At Transition; this is were our 'Venture Partners' come into play, supporting the team of investors. As our planet heats up, investors warm up to climate tech 2023 was the hottest year on record, bringing extreme weather events and crippling economic losses. And 2024 looks like the year with extreme weather, especially for Asia Pacific region. Yesterday, on 23 March, Earth Hour would have been observed by many around the world. But we can’t save our planet just by observing it symbolically for an hour out of 8760+ hours in the year. What we are doing to solve the challenges will define our future. Low carbon economy, backed by climate tech, is investors’ new focus. Green and climate tech investments and fundraising also gained momentum, bolstered by an urgent need to adopt sustainable practices. ESG has been the buzz word for last 10 years. Sustainable raw materials, low emission processes, resilient supply chain, and efficient waste management are the key areas where climate tech is playing a pivotal role. We are facing new challenges which cannot be solved by outdated methods. Solutions to resolve global crisis such as climate change, which has direct impacts on how people and economies would function, are need of the hour.
