2 original posts in 2 weeks, what's going on?! I found this little gem of bad bike parking in Port Kells. Let's get into this one. 1. The racks are known as wheel benders for a reason. These racks will remain empty if you want people with bikes they care about. 2. The location right near the drive thru is, well, useless. If a bike was on this rack the aisle would back right in front of the menu board, and angle the uses towards the through road. 3. Location again! These are so far from the entrance, which is on the other side of the building, will have nobody wanting to park here. I would expect a lot of "fly parking" at this location. 4. The rack itself has materials made of low security steel. This is clearly a budget decision and not a bike parking decision. When it comes to bike parking, that second word needs to be considered more often. Bikes are vehicles that are parked, not just stored or placed and this rack and placement ticks no boxes for a modern cyclist.
