The latest data released by the Department for Education in response to my Freedom of information request shows us that in English state schools there are in addition to English: · 4 languages spoken by 100,000 or more pupils · 10 languages by 40,000 or more pupils · 16 languages by 30,000 or more pupils · 25 languages by 20,000 or more pupils · 45 languages by 10,000 or more pupils · 33 languages by 5,000 or more pupils · 275 languages spoken in total or 308 if you count the recorded variants of languages such as Chinese and Arabic. #multilingual #eal #schoolleadership
