Blair Hull is an American entrepreneur and probably one of the pioneers of High Frequency Trading. This guy founded Hull Trading Company in 1985 and served as the firm's Chairman and chief executive officer before selling it to Goldman Sachs in 1999 for $531 million. Here a few facts you probably didn’t know about this amazing story: 1. Trained in mathematics and computer science, Hull first applied his skills and training to advantage play in blackjack, and then went on to develop an empirical model independent of Black–Scholes to use on the financial markets. Hull eventually became one of the most advanced trading operations in the world, a quant mecca that transformed the options world. 2. The company, which leveraged technological innovations and quantitative models, was one of the world's premier market-making firms, trading on 28 exchanges in nine countries. 3. The company was a global leader in the application of computer technology to listed derivatives trading. Hull developed a proprietary and large scale reliable distributed system architecture, providing automatic real-time pricing, risk management, market making and interconnection with automated options, futures and stock exchanges as they became available. 🌟 Feeling inspired after diving into the world of options trading! Just explored a range of intriguing strategies like the Bear Call Spread and the Bull Put Spread - fascinating stuff! Here are some key takeaways that caught my attention: - **Bear Call Spread:** A limited-risk, limited-reward approach with one short call option. - **Bear Put Spread:** Buying one put and selling another put at a lower strike for cost offset. - **Bull Call Spread:** Buying one call option and selling another at a higher strike for cost coverage. - **Bull Put Spread:** A strategy for limited-risk, limited-reward involving short and long put options. - **Cash-Secured Put:** Involves writing a put option and setting aside cash for stock purchase. - **Covered Call:** Writing a call covered by an equivalent long stock position. - **Collar (Protective Collar):** Adding a temporary hedge to a long stock position. 📈 Whether it's positioning for profit or mitigating risk, these strategies offer exciting ways to engage with the market. Have you delved into any of these options trading techniques lately? Share your thoughts! https://lnkd.in/e6B_hy7i

Did you see the The Wall Street Journal today? In an age when misinformation runs amok and foreign bots manipulate social media to drive targeted outcomes…and a time when faith in our public institutions continues to deteriorate…financial markets are an invaluable datapoint for those seeking truth. Prediction markets unlock this. The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission should rethink its approach to election markets. Allowing them onshore will serve a public good. Forcing them overseas will not. Excellent article on Polymarket below. https://lnkd.in/eXisXRBa
