Randy M. is one of the many people we are blessed to have as part of the SFI family. Randy's journey into the pork industry started back when he was a young boy growing up on his family farm where his family raised livestock together, pigs being one of them. Randy has been married to his wife, Marcia, for 36 years. They have two kids; Brittany and Taylor, each with their beautiful families. Randy is our regional wean-to-finish manager in the Rock County, MN territory. He oversees SFI facilities, pigs, employees, and growers in Rock County. Randy is a huge asset to his team and the health and well-being of the pigs; he does an outstanding job! When asked what he enjoys, Randy said, “I enjoy the variety of work. Each day brings something new.” Thank you to Randy for sharing his talents and story with us. We are lucky to have him as a member of our team!

𝐁𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐅𝐈𝐓𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐘𝐀𝐑𝐃 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐒 (𝟐) Some other additional benefits of raising backyard chickens include: • They can be therapeutic. Spending time with chickens can be calming and relaxing. Some people even find that chickens can help to reduce stress and anxiety. • They can help to build community. Many neighborhoods have chicken-keeping clubs or groups. This can be a great way to meet new people and learn from other chicken keepers. • They can be a source of income. If you have a large enough flock, you may be able to sell your eggs or chickens to others. #poultry #poultryfarm #chicken #chickenlovers

USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) if neighboring states want to assist in pastures, as these animals will have a road to recover from inhalation of smoke, then dust and ash, so readily now they need to get out of said conditions. So how can we navigate if ranchers in neighboring states are open to help? Oklahoma State University do we have anyone in legislation that can expedite a temporary check station waving some of the red tape? Time is crucial as many ranchers know, so those ranchers don’t lose everything they have worked so hard for doesn’t lose what is left?! Texas Department of Agriculture how can we work together to get the info out and/or a process? If you are a #rancher or a land owner and can assist please reach out. If you are in a different state than Oklahoma check the #APHIS website or make calls to get the ball rolling. These ranchers some are not the wealthiest they raise these herds to then sell yes but it takes a lot to have what some of them do and they have lost it all. Again, let’s work together and assist for those upset with Texas for whatever reason 🛑 STOP, these are animals not a pawn in ♟️. I said what I said. If you are wanting to donate sooner than mailing a check, here is the info for immediate recovery ❤️🩹 efforts and support. Truly CC #texasfires #support #cattlemen #texascattlemenassociation

Texas Ranchers Need Our Help With over a million acres of Texas Panhandle ranch land burned, now is the time to step up and help our neighbors in need! We have brokered a deal with a feed mill here in our area to manufacture an all-purpose feed that is safe for horses, cattle, goats, and sheep - at cost! They have agreed to make as much as we can buy to send to the Texas Panhandle. As of March 7, 2024, we have delivered 55 tons of feed and arranged delivery to West Texas at no cost - all donated trucking. Several more tons are purchased for next weeks delivery! We are not asking you just for financial support, but also help to reach corporations and generous business-minded people who want to help these generational ranchers who have lost everything. Fox News interviewed Lee Wells and published a breaking news story on March 6, 2004, and the Dallas Morning News released a story on March 8, 2024, detailing this effort! That story was just printed as the Saturday Front Page Story! These surviving cattle need good nutrition. The feed we are sending will help sustain them and give them a shot at living through this trauma. Many ranches are sending hay, but feed is expensive. This discounted feed still costs $325 per ton, so we need real funding to support this cause for the next several weeks and months. Our goal is to send a minimum of 50 tons per week! The West Texas ground is dry and will not grow grass for a while - it will be months before these pastures regrow. We are arranging the relocation of over 1500 bales of hay into the panhandle as well over the next several days and weeks. We need fuel funds for the many volunteer drivers donating their time and equipment to haul this donated hay. Thousands of people are coming together - We need your help! It goes without saying, but we are not making anything on this endeavor. I have sent several thousands of dollars worth of hay this past week from my ranch, and will continue to give money and time to these wonderful ranchers digging out of this vast disaster. We are simply grateful it is not our ranch on fire. There is no more efficient or effective way to help these men and women! We can use your donation 100% toward feed and fuel! That feed will be onsite within the week, and feeding starving livestock in need. Please give something today! Stay tuned this week - Tae Lewis will be on the Ranch and Table Podcast with Lee Wells to discuss his journey on The Voice singing country music, and help raise awareness for the wildfires in the Texas Panhandle. Apparently our Governor has declared October Pork Month in Missouri. Since getting involved in the Foundation's Food Justice initiative, I have learned so much about the meat industry in Missouri and especially the small, family farmers who are part of and help invest back into our local economies. The model of Patchwork Family Farms in central MO is all about supporting community through the food system. Food is community. Food is wellbeing. #FoodJustice #HealthEquity 🐷 https://lnkd.in/ge-s9HfH

𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬# 𝟮𝟲 A cattle owner was very successful because his cows supplied milk for the entire village. When a drought hit a neighboring village, 20 families moved to his village, and his cows couldn't meet the increased demand. Struggling to balance supply, his friend suggested feeding the cows with corn for more milk, while his wife suggested buying more cows Before spending, the cattle owner decided to visit the neighboring towns to check the prices on cattle food and new cows, asking his assistant to handle the cattle in his absence. Upon returning a week later with three new cows and bags of corn, he was surprised to find his existing cows had started yielding enough milk to meet the demand. He rushed to his cattle to meet his assistant. On seeing the owner, the assistant rushed to him and said in excitement: 𝘚𝘢𝘣!! 𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘪𝘦𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘬.
