All stories are bullshit simplifications of chaotic and indescribably complex systems. All retellings of history, all the metaphorical models of science. We're still smarter for having them. Stories are models to aid understanding. As the saying goes, 'All models are wrong, but some are useful' The problem is the case study stories are more useful to people having to choose which things to award than they are to anyone seeking to replicate the method.

📰 Breaking (Products) News: The UK Government announced its legislative programme today (in the King's Speech) and it includes important potential changes to the Product Safety regime. We are currently short on detail but a few broad areas have been sketched out: 🗝 Key among them is the ability to mirror EU laws. This promises to help reduce divergence between Great Britain and Northern Ireland and to reduce regulatory burdens for businesses operating in both the EU and UK. The right to diverge from the EU will be preserved, where its in the UK's interests to do so. 🔍 Online marketplaces (and other new business models in the supply chain) will have additional responsibilities to ensure consumers are protected. It will be interesting to see how closely the UK follows the EU here or whether it chooses to go further. 👩💻 New rules will enable the UK to keep pace with technological change (such as AI) with risks associated with e-bikes and lithium ion batteries called out. Laws keeping up with technological change is a perennial challenge, so it will be interesting to see how the Government proposes to legislate for novel risks. 🚨 Improved enforcement, including data sharing between regulators is also on the agenda. This reflects a trend of increased enforcement we are seeing across the globe. Its early days and there will be more to say once the draft bill is published. Life is like a maze, what we need to do is to find the exit, then the process will certainly encounter difficulties, a question: why I don't like to eat well-done beef? We can split this problem, and the first reason may be that the meat is too hard. A second reason may be that the meat has expired. A third reason may be that the meat is too greasy.
