📃Scientific paper: Astronomy, Doughnuts, and Carrying Capacity Abstract: I examine the applicability of ecological concepts in discussing issues related to space environmentalism. Terms such as "ecosystem"", "carrying capacity"", and "tipping point" are either ambiguous or well defined but not applicable to orbital space and its contents; using such terms uncritically may cause more confusion than enlightenment. On the other hand, it may well be fruitful to adopt the approach of the Planetary Boundaries Framework, defining trackable metrics that capture the damage to the space environment. I argue that the key metric is simply the number of Anthropogenic Space Objects (ASOs), rather than for example their reflectivity, which is currently doubling every 1.7 years; we are heading towards degree scale separation. Overcrowding of the sky is a problem astronomers and satellite operators have in common. ;Comment: Seven pages, two figures. 📃Scientific paper: A Chronological History of X-Ray Astronomy Missions Abstract: In this chapter, we briefly review the history of X-ray astronomy through its missions. We follow a temporal development, from the first instruments onboard rockets and balloons to the most recent and complex space missions. We intend to provide the reader with detailed information and references on the many missions and instruments that have contributed to the success of the exploration of the X-ray universe. We have not included missions that are still operating, providing the worldwide community with high-quality observations. 🌟 Studying planets, stars, and galaxies with large reflector antennas   ⚡ In radio astronomy, large and highly directive microwave antennas are used to measure and study microwave radiation in the universe. 📡 As these microwave signals are weak and come from very large distances, accurate antenna design and extremely sensitive receiver systems are required. For the antenna, typically very large reflector antennas are used, such as for the Green Bank, Effelsberg, and FAST telescopes that have reflector diameters from 100 to 500 meters. 💡 In this context, TICRA’s Peter Meincke last week participated in the European School of Antennas (ESoA) on “Antennas for Radio Telescopes”, held at Stellenbosch University. Here, Peter gave a series of lectures on reflector antennas in radio astronomy, highlighting how these large and complex antennas enable radio astronomers across the globe to study planets, stars, and galaxies. Revisiting myself two year back when I was exploring space technologies and theoretical astronomy. I participated in this year long olympiad, ISSO, Indian Space Science Olympiad conducted by Edumithra Event Mangement. I learnt many concepts regarding astronomy. Out of which, the black hole theory, Quasars and stellar formation are some things which intrigued me the most. Finally after a lot of research work and 3 long rounds over the span of an year I managed to secure AIR 12 rank. ☺️✌️ trying to achieve more and pursue my current interest computer science in harmony with astronomy. #isso #space #astronomy #olympiad #rockets #science #nebula

Plans for astronomy, on the Moon! So, telescopes can potentially detect not just the first stars in the universe, but even the gas that formed those stars. But astronomy will have to compete with commercial and other interests on the Moon. Our guest, Dr. Richard Green, is the Chair of a newly formed IAU Commission on Astronomy on the Moon, and here we talk about the potential of groundbreaking astronomy/science from the surface of the Moon.
