It’s Sunday. Unless you are a member of the clergy, or someone who has to work on Sunday’s or weekends, don’t work today even though you have things to do. You will ALWAYS have things to do. Working nonstop doesn’t make you productive. Or dedicated. Giving yourself time to exercise, have fun, engage with people you care about and decompress, puts you in a better position to be procudtive when you do work. Office jobs are tough, man. Sitting all day can be really hard on your body, and not to mention, sometimes your boss doesn't even have enough work for you to do for the full eight hours! We totally get you, so we made a list of memes that express the frustrations of that excruciating office grind. Nothing can prevent you from feeling the daily monotony of the work day. It is like the rising and setting of the sun, it happens whether you wish it to, or not. OR even fight against it in some Don Quixote-esque battle against natural forces far superior to your miserable existence. But enough of this reality smack. Thanks Donna Hatt for including me.on this valuable post. My experience for many years now is there is no "formal" lunch time or even start or end times to a work day. Some things we can all consider: 1. When we make, or receive, a call while enjoying a meal or a break, we don't have to answer. Voicemail is our receptionist. Same applies for calls outside our "working" hours. 2. When we call at these hours, if the other person answers, we.don't need to apologize. We can assume they are comfortable receiving our call. However ... 3. We want to be listening when they answer. We want to be fully present and respond to what we hear. Do we hear cutlery? The sound of other voices nearby? Or even the sound of annoyance? Then we want to start our call by saying "It sounds like I've reached you at an inconvenient time..." If the person says "No, it's fine" then go ahead If they say "Yes" let them know you'll call back at another time.

Know the difference between 'game time' & 'film time.' Weekends are for film time. Preparing for your week, reading, studying trends, general admin. But when the work week starts? That's game time, baby. Focus your energy on two things: business development/ networking & deal making. Too often I see people spending far too much 'film time' during the work week. Save that for the evenings & weekends. Stay in the game.

So excited to be able to work from home and still be able to see the office from my apartment! 🤩 Working from home has allowed me to get closer to my family and to stay more productive and focused on my tasks. 🤗 Not having to worry about trains being on strike has been a great relief. I have been able to spend more time with family and friends doing the things I love. 🥰 🗣 Communicate: Make sure you're staying in touch with your colleagues. We are always speaking to each other through out the day on Teams or at the end of the phone if anyone needs help and support. 🤹♂️ Take a break: Make sure you're taking regular breaks. I tend to go for walks on my lunch, stretch my legs and have a cup of tea. 🗓 Plan ahead: Set yourself a schedule with specific tasks and goals. This will help you stay on track and focused. 📱 Disconnect: Once you've finished your day, make sure you're taking time away from work. Put away your laptop and phone, and focus on other activities. For decade , our Forefather , Mothers , previous Bosses , Educational systems etc. and even now everyone talks about it but the question is what am I talking about. I have Five questions for you !! 1. How do you enjoy your working break hours (Personally) ? 2. What time do you close from work ? 3. What do you do after work ? 4. How do you spend your weekend ? 5. What do you do when you take days off work ? I know you are guessing the Topic but stay tuned for the surprise!!!

Do your own thinking! In the recent debate on 70 hours work week, there were two extreme camps (Hey, Companies are already exploiting employees V/S You need to work your a** off 6 days a week for National good). Not Surprisingly, both the 'extreme' camps are both naive and arrogant Naive because they see the world in the binary terms and arrogant because the loudest voice in both the camps believe they know the best for the rest of humanity (Or at least employees) Sorry but one size does not fit all. I personally don't think I'll sustain the 70 hours work week. In fact, I would absolutely hate it if I'm asked to work on the weekend (although I don't recall ever being asked to) but every once in a while I have worked long hours or on the weekends on my own volition. This is because we were trying to achieve something that I knew will require extra effort and will not get done within the 8*5 time frame. This extra effort was with a sense of excitement and ownership I love having a few intense periods followed by a few relaxed days/weeks where I take it easy. So, it isn't really about 70 hours. To me, it's just a metaphor. It's about moving the needle and effort required to create something I will take pride in. I would tell my siblings, If you see no value in going beyond your Job contract, don't! And if you are forced against your will, then a job is nothing but a contract. Bid your time, find something and say good bye. You really don't need to tolerate an exploitative work place, (Even more so if they pay you peanuts). But at the same time, understand that value creation isn't a deterministic exercise. There is a reason why startups and NGOs often work extra Hard. Sometimes, you have to go the extra mile, to move the needle. So, decide for yourself!

It’s Monday. How many of y’all closed your laptop on Friday and did not open it again until this morning? How many of y’all didn’t think about work until today? Were not compelled to check notifications? Slacks? Texts from colleagues? For most of us the weekend isn’t focused on rest, community, family and hobbies. The weekend is the bare minimum we need to keep our heads above water, to get done all of the foundational things of life that we couldn’t fit into the workweek. If this is you, you are definitely not alone. According to the Families and Work Institute for the Department of Labor, 2/3 to 3/4 a majority of wage earners say they do not have enough time to be with children, get work done, spend time with spouses, or spend on themselves. We are in a state of time famine. Time famine refers to this cultural wide feeling (reality in my opinion) of having too much to do but not enough time to deal with the demands placed upon us. Many folks in the early-mid 20th century believed emphatically that technology would enable folks to work a fraction of the 40-hour work week. That we’d all have time to center families, community, civic life, hobbies. That dream back-fired. And why? Racialized capitalism depends on extractive labor practices, it’s rotten at the core --technology wasn’t used to free us, it was used to extract more from us. ...let me quickly respond to my boss's Slack at 8:30pm. Let me shoot off this email to my colleague before dinner or while I am at my kid’s soccer game. This isn’t a new trend, we can look to the technological advances in the 18th and 19th centuries (industrialization) that poured fuel on enslavement and the oppression of the working factory class. Today, we’ve been fed the lie that overloaded schedules, constant messages, meetings during the day and “working” at night and using the weekend to catch-up equate to authority or our being indispensable. We’ve been conditioned not to question the psychological impacts of checking email over the weekend, or why we’re so damn tired all the time, or how come we’ve said for years we were going to volunteer for that thing but we’ve never “found” the time. We are starving for time. Ain't enough hot baths or face masks in the world will change it. This isn’t a personal problem, it’s a systemic one, with roots in white supremacy, capitalism, and colonization. The time famine we are living in leads to mental health issues such as burnout, anxiety, depression, physical health problems. This is all exacerbated for folks with marginalized identities. Are we now a 3.5 day week? OK-anything happening business-wise Thursday afternoons or Fridays? One of the after effects of COVID was that we really don't work an actual 40 hrs.wk, so returning to our work offices are now reflecting our COVID hours. Things start slowing down Thursday mornings with e-mails and actual calls/texts not returned or not initiated. Fridays, of course , are dead which is reflected on Mondays where the concentration is completing what could/should have been done on Fridays. So this allows Tuesdays and Wednesdays to be the actual 'work time' where hiring/interviewing/meetings occur. Is this effective? What is your input to make this 3.5 day workweek productive: not just for you, but for your consumers (internal or external)??
