Leather closures!
For Matsos®, sustainability is more than just a concept—it's a commitment woven into every aspect of our process.
We recognize the immense potential of leather waste from the fashion industry, and we've made it our mission to give this discarded material a new purpose.
Through a meticulous process of collection, treatment, and transformation, we create a new life with leather waste.
But our innovation doesn't stop there. We understand the importance of versatility, which is why we combine leather with other sustainable materials like cork or wood waste.
This fusion of materials not only expands the possibilities for design but also reinforces our dedication to minimizing waste and maximizing sustainability.

Forget Cotton, The Fabric of the Future Might Be in Your Kitchen! ♻️
Imagine a world where fashion gets a sustainable makeover, and the key ingredient comes from your everyday routine. Believe it or not, orange peels, often discarded as waste, are now being transformed into luxurious fabrics!
Orange Fiber: A Sustainable Game Changer
Move over, cotton and jute! We're witnessing a revolution in organic materials. Pioneered in Italy, a groundbreaking process is giving citrus waste a new life. Leftover citrus cellulose, a byproduct of orange juice production, is being upcycled into a fabric that's not just eco-friendly but feels incredibly luxurious.
Think soft, think silky, think endless design possibilities! Fabrics made from orange peels can be dyed and printed to fit any designer's vision. Companies like Orange Fiber [[https://lnkd.in/gwnte-Bj)] are championing this innovation, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional textiles.
But the magic of orange peels doesn't stop at clothing! Researchers are exploring their potential in creating sustainable packaging solutions. Imagine replacing plastic packaging with strong, eco-friendly alternatives made by combining orange peels with other biodegradable materials.
The Future is Looking Fruity!
These pioneering applications are just the beginning. Research into using orange peels for sustainable materials is flourishing, offering a beacon of hope for waste reduction and the creation of a new generation of eco-friendly products. The fashion and packaging industries are on the cusp of a citrus revolution, and it's a juicy prospect for a greener tomorrow! ♻️
Let's discuss! What are your thoughts on this exciting development? Could orange peels be the key to a more sustainable future for fashion and beyond? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Our signature recycled cotton blend yarn is made from 50% recycled cotton pre-consumer and 50% recycled polyester post-consumer.
The cotton comes from apparel factories that, if not recycled, would end up in landfills causing damage to the environment.
The polyester comes from plastic bottles that are converted into new polyester fibers without the use of water.
All are spun to create our resilient and soft fade-resistant yarns, focusing on what matters in design.
**Innovating Base Layers with Bio-based Fibers and Sustainable Technologies**
Revolutionize your base layers with a focus on sustainability and performance. Bio-based fibers like spandex and nylon, alongside recycled polyester and spandex, dominate the scene, with a growing shift towards 100% recycled options and mono-materials for circularity.
Leading the charge are 37.5 Technology and Cocona Labs, presenting a fully biodegradable warp knit that maintains comfort and temperature regulation while promoting breakdown. Texxar Co's Green Circle fabric introduces marl effects through recycled textile yarns, paired with dope-dyed recycled polyester for durability.
Polartec's Delta fabric leverages mint-based deodorizing finishes for a natural cooling response, made from post-consumer recycled polyester and sustainable lyocell. Complete the look with seaside-inspired trims from National Weaving, marrying functionality with chic aesthetics. Elevate your base layers with sustainable innovation and cutting-edge technology.

Strategic sustainability leader with a passion for driving positive climate, environmental and social impact, championing innovative solutions to protect biodiversity and the natural world.
As a sustainability champion and Board member of Cervo Volante, I'm excited to share this insightful article on the evolving landscape of sustainable leather alternatives in fashion.
The piece highlights how brands are exploring a diverse portfolio of solutions - from recycled and regeneratively farmed leathers to innovative plant-based and even fish skin materials. It's clear there is no one-size-fits-all answer, but a need to embrace multiple approaches.
Cervo Volante's work repurposing deer hides that would otherwise go to waste is featured as an example of how animal-based leathers can still play a role when sourced responsibly. Our unique tanning process and focus on circularity resonate with consumers seeking authentic, sustainable stories.
This is an important conversation as the industry works to reduce its environmental impact. I'm proud to be part of the shift towards more diverse, innovative and lower-impact materials in fashion. #SustainableFashion#CircularEconomy#LeatherAlternatives
Dahlinger GmbH - Rethinking Sustainability with Recycled Leather
🌿 Sustainability at Dahlinger: A New Dimension 🌿
At Dahlinger, sustainability is at the heart of our values, and our expertise in recycled leather underlines this commitment. Bonded leather is an innovative material that sets new standards in sustainable leather processing. Instead of disposing of valuable leather scraps, we can transform them into a high-quality, environmentally friendly surface structure.
♻️ Recycled Leather:
Leather scraps from the shoe industry and other sources are shredded and processed with binding agents to form a uniform mass. This is bound between layers of fabric and coated with PU, resulting in a hard-wearing material that resembles real leather in look and feel.
🌍 Why Recycled Leather?
Conservation of resources: avoidance of waste and efficient use of residual materials
High-quality appearance: Visually and haptically indistinguishable from real leather
Environmentally friendly: Reduces the need for new raw materials and lowers the environmental impact
✨ Dahlinger shows that luxury and sustainability can go hand in hand. Our ability to make products from recycled leather combines premium design with environmental responsibility.

Did you know that mushrooms can also be made into #clothes? This is a super material called Mycelium, which can be used in packaging, furniture and clothing.
As global environmental problems worsen, the #fashion industry pays more and more attention to environmental protection concepts and animal-friendly products, and the demand for #sustainable leather is also increasing. Ecovative uses the power of fungi to produce proteins and leather-like #textiles that are good for the earth. After the end of its life cycle, the material will return to the soil for natural degradation.
The use of Mycelium leather not only reduces the use of animal leather products, but also can improve problems such as plastic pollution and chemical pollution. Jiaxin Silk supports the production and use of #environmentally friendly leather, and is also constantly seeking its own sustainable development path.

This was certainly a highlight in our journey, or mission to present modern merino wool to the masses.
To help change the perception of wool from being an old school, heavy scratchy fibre to what it is today. An easy care, super soft stylish fabric.
The reality is that we are selling and marketing the innovations over the last few decades made in transforming wool to what it is today.
Thank you to the dedication in breeding genetics from Australian wool growers, to pioneers like Jimmy Jackson and believers and investors like Shen George who have provided me and TheMerinoPolo with a product that we believe has no peer for wearability and value. A true alternative to the plethora of synthetic polo shirts that flood the corporate/ business wear market and pollute our planet with landfill and microfibres.
There is a huge opportunity for the corporate sector to tick some boxes in outfitting their staff in merino wool.
Natural. Renewable. Biodegradable. Add to that an exciting recycling program we're working on for our polos.
Even better. Happy, comfortable, stylish staff. Odour resistant too!
We're busy taking orders and planning for the new financial year.
Make the change to merino in 24/25.
