CEO at Scout Motors

I'm often asked how we landed on South Carolina for the home of our Scout Motors Production Center. I love this question. Why? Because the answer is simple, yet powerful. We selected South Carolina for a number of reasons, but the most important factor was (and still is) the people. Our goal was to join a community of passionate people who share our desire to make a difference and create history.   More than a year later, it's more than clear that South Carolina is the ideal place to produce our new Scout vehicles. Earlier this week, Governor Henry McMaster, Secretary of Commerce Harry Lightsey, and members of the S.C. Dept. of Commerce met with Volkswagen Group leadership at the Group’s Wolfsburg facility in Germany to do what they do best ... drive collaboration and build relationships.   We are grateful for the Governor's continued partnership and support. His vision to make the state a global hub of automotive innovation and EV manufacturing along with his commitment to foster connections and economic growth aligns perfectly with our mission.   The collaborative spirit and warm welcome we’ve experienced and continue to enjoy in South Carolina is nothing short of amazing. We’re excited for the future and what we’ll build together.

Scott, has Scout negotiated a lithium deal with Redwood Materials (also in SC) and will VW’s partnership with Rivian allow Scout to utilize some of Rivians software and hardware advances? Super excited to see how you utilize the lessons from other EV makers and make SC a global center for EV excellence.

Hi, Scott! Please consider a partnership with the Blythewood Chamber of Commerce. Many of your employees and their families will be a part of this town. With your help, the Chamber can continue to help small business thrive, and improve the overall economic development in Blythewood, which has a positive impact on the entire community! It will show that Scout Motors is civic-minded and plans to contribute to the community! “A rising tide lifts all boats!”

It's impressive how Volkswagen Group's decision to locate in South Carolina reflects a commitment to community and collaboration. The alignment with Governor McMaster's vision for automotive innovation and economic growth showcases a strategic partnership that benefits both sides, fostering a promising future in EV manufacturing.

Love seeing the updates of this bold and exciting move from a beloved brand I’m proud to have been a part of at the beginning of my career. Looking forward to seeing Scout Motors vision come to life!

Is that before or after you fiddled the emissions and compensated the American public. The European public are still waiting.

We all know it's the food, Scott quit playin.

Scott: You had better be on top of the Rivian deal or Scout could turn into a journey much like the US intro of the ID.Buzz. VW is so lost here in the US on so many things.
