🐟⚾️🎟️ Last week at an event we hosted at the ballpark a few of our clients stopped me to share some of their successes using Marlins tickets. That was really cool for me to hear as I’m passionate about providing value and impact for our clients. Obviously, as the head of sales my goal is to drive business and sell as many tickets as possible but it’s super rewarding when hearing those wins. A few of those included: - A Group Leader saying we helped them through every step of the process to make their employee day seamless and meet their goals for the day - A Marlins Member sharing how valuable it is to spend 3 hours with a client and how that’s led to repeat business - And probably the best one. A suite client stopping me to say he’s already achieved a 15x ROI 🤑from his purchase with more revenue pending in the pipeline When I hear stories like that I’m compelled to share for others to open their ideas to these opportunities. A lot of times people think of sports tickets 🎟️ as fun and excitement…which it is…AND it can be a very impactful tool to meet your business objectives. The investment you make in tickets is minimal to what you spend on other marketing expenses which are almost impossible to accurately track the attribution sometimes and quantify the ROI. Tickets with a sports team give you high touch, 1:1, unforgettable interactions with your top prospects and clients. My hypothesis (and what a few of our clients have verified) is you will realize more revenue from your accounts that you bring to games versus those that you do not. Ticket Sales Tip of the Week and the Stars Responsible Week #45 (West coast Flexibility) When studying and visiting teams I'm often stunned at how often the guidelines around buying tickets are unfriendly. Around groups this could apply to payment terms, minimum # of guests, rainout policy or concession credit expiration. Pertaining to Season tickets, playoff and regular season payment deadlines and ticket transfer policies heavily favored to the teams advantage are prominent. Stars of the Week- Major League Level- Josh Nanavity San Jose Sharks. Season Tickets: Fans are able to ticket exchange any game and should they exchange to a lower tiered price game the difference becomes a ticket credit to the STH's account. In addition, the team will buy back up to 3 games from the STH's which can be applied to the following years renewal. Minor League Level- Erik Eisenberg Las Vegas Aviators Visiting Erik last week, for starters what a Minor League ballpark. That said, pertaining to Groups, depending on the size they'll accept as little as 8 people and payment can be made right up to game time which avoids a group leader being punished should a guest cancel. Ticket Sales Tip of the Week and the Stars behind them- Week #59 (Don't be shy about adding value to sell premium seating) What's become more common is hearing about teams struggling to sell premium. This isn't only a perception and revenue challenge, it can lead to a disaster when your premium customers sit in empty sections or are surrounded in the second half with kids like the 14 year old version of Harry Gundy and myself who were rejected 4x's at a September Blue Jays game. Last week visiting Dan Mason and Eric Friedman defeat the Syracuse Mets inspired this post. Major League Stars- Frances Traisman SVP of the Seattle Mariners The Mariners allow their premium seat holders to transfer the committed spend to any ticket section or offering. Example: Trade in a week premium pair for 10 April midweek outfields to host a kids party. Minor League Stars- Dan Mason GM of the Rochester Red Wings By offering for $840.00 a 20 seat suite game day offering that includes baseline food, soda and water, the founding home of Xerox and Kodak (neither is a top 5 city employer today) have sold out every suite since mid May. Ticket Sales Tip of the Week and the Stars behind them- Week #58 (Sell tickets by being unique) Jesse Cole when he took ownership of Savannah Bananas didn't sell 100 Tickets to their first game. This summer they're selling out Major League Parks at a premium. Major League Stars- A Toronto Argonauts CFL Leadership team member. The Argos introduced a Friends and Family (F&F) flash day sale "Argos Celebration Day" by featuring a member of their executive team inside a Vintage Ticketing booth featuring the word "Tickets". Not only did the iconic photo go viral across the 103 Networks who liked it, the F&F offer attached to the photo could be redeemed by anyone who saw the photo. The executive couldn't share #'s accept to say the impact was significant. Minor League Star- Tyler Parson GM of the Durham Bulls Most sports team have membership ticket "no shows" to every game. At the minor league level it can be as high as 40% and whether it's the atmosphere, F&B stadium spend or the following years renewal, it's negative. Tyler Parsons is considering rewarding high membership ticket use with a earned credit towards the following seasons renewals.
