I am not a fitness influencer. I am not a personal trainier. But I am an observer of human nature and what goes on. And what I saw this past Friday scared the crap out of me. I went to a friend's dad's funeral. He died relatively suddenly. But that wasn't what scared me. What scared me was seeing my other friends' parents and the family friends I saw. Most were 60-65 the last time I saw them. They were all mostly healthy, vibrant and mentally sharp. Most are now 70-75. The difference is now DRASTIC. Almost every single one of them has health problems now. Parkinsons, dementia, or issues with mobility. Most are now on death's door and won't see age 80. It scared the crap out of me. I truly believe health issues typically don't show up until your late 50s or 60s, but once you start down the path, it's just a matter of time until you die. And your last 5+ years are brutal. One of my friends dad was a tough dude. Very smart. Successful. Now, at 75, gets lost driving every day. Has lost weight. Probably won't make it much longer. This experience hit me hard and made me realize I need to double down on my self care, mobility and fitness. Zone 2, mobility work, weight lifting, and doing things to keep mentally sharp. You can't come back so the goal has to be just holding off "the last stage" as long as possible. When it's too late, it's too late.
Lost my Dad last year after he battled dementia for almost 10 years. Very sobering to see happen. Your health is most definetly your wealth.
When it's too late, it's time to graduate.
Great share, thanks. I am convinced a big part of this rapid deterioration is directly correlated to the foods most choose to eat. I am witnessing this with my own parents and believe healthy decisions can slow the inevitable
Have you read “Outlive” by Peter Attia? Based on this post, I think you’d like it a lot.

1moYou and I both my father passed at 57 from cancer. To think how quick one day we are here, and the next we are not is real. Getting blood work trying to fine tune diet everyday is all I can do.
