The way to go about volunteering:  ✓ Research local sustainability initiatives or organizations in your community that align with your interests and values. ✓Reach out to one or more of these organizations to express your interest in volunteering and inquire about upcoming opportunities or projects. ✓Commit to volunteering for a sustainability initiative or event in the near future, whether it's a beach cleanup, community garden project, or advocacy campaign. What an Earth Day! 🌍 Awareness days are only worthwhile if they inspire real action. Given what we've seen at We Make Change so far, we'd say it's been a success: 💚 People from almost a dozen companies joined our ‘Earth Day Change Hour’ to volunteer remotely to support Village Solar’s work empowering women through solar technology. It was amazing to see the ideas teams developed in just one hour! 💧 GRUNDFOS empowered employees to volunteer their sales skills in a Change Day to support sustainable solutions for people and planet globally! 🌳 PA Consulting employees continued their volunteering streak with a Sustainability Change Day where people from across their teams volunteered to support impact startups. 🌿 And there’s still more to come with companies like CSG, Kinetic Consulting Ltd and others giving their teams the opportunity to volunteer remotely to supercharge the scalable solutions we need. There's still a long way to go, but it's a start. Because if we're going to address the challenges the world faces... Volunteering can be challenging, but when fueled by passion, it becomes an integral part of an individual’s life, benefiting both the community and the workplace. One has to be elected/ selected of course for roles that are representative of their skills and abilities when it comes to international representation. Such is the role that I was selected for in 2021 as the convenor/ chair of the transmission lines panel in Australia for CIGRE. This role is relatively time consuming. My predecessors managed their time working off weekends to support the delivery of this role. I am no different and I try to do my best to improve knowledge share across Australia with attempts to improve connectivity with global experts in this field. So why am I telling you all of this? Well, in order to improve my service delivery, I seek feedback. I designed a simple survey mainly for the people who are already on the panel in Australia. But I thought it might be worthwhile sharing this with my wider linkedin community so see if you might be interested in the questions and approach we are trying to take. Do you need to fill out the survey? Yes, if you have been exposed to any of the CIGRE activities that I have been posting or have come in direct or indirect contact with any of the other panels (substations, protection, AI etc.) please feel free to have a crack - it takes 2 minutes. Not all questions may be applicable for everyone but certainly to good to have a look if you have a spare 2mins. https://lnkd.in/gZtUndAN Bottomline/ conclusion Once the survey is complete I will collate and share with the wider B2 panel and the Australian Technical Committee in CIGRE with the aim of improving our impact to the Net Zero Transition. CIGRE has definitely a lot to offer!!
