For those who intuitively understand the tremendous #therapeutic potential that "modern day #energymedicine" has to offer (and like to geek out on research), this recent publication in the JIM - Journal of Internal Medicine by Cristina Blanco-Duque, MSc, PhD has it all. With a focus on #alzheimersdisease, this paper paints a highly compelling argument for the need to change the way we approach neurodegenerative diseases. Nowhere else (from my perspective) has anyone ever done such a phenomenal job building a sound scientific foundation for the urgent need to consider the unique properties of sound, light, vibration, and electromagnetic fields in modern-day medicine. #innovation https://lnkd.in/gGM75eyC

New #URochesterResearch led by Zahira Quiñones Tavarez, MD, PhD, MPH, MS, a recent graduate of UR CTSI's Translational Biomedical PhD Program (https://lnkd.in/eaP33rQR), shows that people who use fruity-flavored e-cigarettes have a higher risk of developing nighttime dry cough, an early indicator of lung disease.   Quiñones and colleagues Steve Gill, Dongmei Li, Andrew Wojtovich, Irfan Rahman, and Deborah Ossip, analyzed data from 19,000 participants in the U.S. to uncover the link. 🚀 Excited to share my recent engagement in a biomedical project! 🚀 In this situation I tried to simulate blood flow through a bifurcated artery using the Carreau fluid model to account for blood's non-Newtonian properties and incorporating pulsatile flow to mimic physiological conditions. Current Progress: Developed and meshed arterial geometry Integrated Carreau model for blood viscosity Implemented realistic pulsatile flow conditions Conducted initial simulations; data analysis in progress Next Steps: Fine-tune simulation parameters Detailed analysis and comparison with physiological data This work aims to provide deeper insights into arterial health and potential treatments for vascular diseases. #CFD #MedicalResearch #NonNewtonianFluids #Hemodynamics #ArterialHealth #BiomedicalEngineering

Researchers from Western Sydney University are looking for individuals with relapsing remitting MS to participate in a study examining the neural mechanisms of pain. The study will involve meeting with the researchers once every 3 months for 1 hour over a 2-year period to investigate molecular changes in the disease. What to expect from each session: - Collect a venous blood sample (5-10 mins) - Survey completion (10-20 mins) - Share your responses to a range of mechanical and thermal sensory tests (10-20 mins) A detailed project overview and survey explanation will be provided before you start.
