A great Christmas tradition: meet Michi Streng in Augsburg. Johannes Koppenhöfer and I have a Christmas tradition: we meet Dr. Michael Streng from #parameta in Augsburg and discuss learnings we had during the year. This time we were talking about one of my favorite topics: empower people to take over responsibility, when the sun shines ☀️ and also when it rains. 🌧️ It was an excellent discussion with somebody who has been trough all the ups and downs of self organization 😀 The interim result of our discussion: the best way to distibute authority is to give it those who have „skin in the game“. And: to encourage and enable people to invest in their own company. I will have to chew on this „food for thought“ for some more time. Please share your thoughts: will people only then assume responsibility in good and bad times when a bad result affects their personal paycheck? Organizations thriving to provide omnichannel experience face complex issues by default. Dealing with that complexity requires much more than just providing good data in CRM. All customer relationship management activities are necessary, and this is what the company must do to serve its market well. In Wurth Srbija we know that solving complex issues arising from demanding requests of our clients, that our company is encountering in our quest for great omnichannel experience, is more about internal communication, organizational culture, decision-making processes, and the way work is structured and managed, than about just being good in data gathering and process setting. Throughout years many steps were taken, and many internal trainings and meetings organized to build and nurture our capacity to grow, deal with uncertainty and change. The cherry on the top of our cake was the Navigate Complexity training delivered in January this year by our long-standing consultant – Adrijana Strnad from ITO. We knew that the journey would continue, and more work (and cherries) would come 😊 Now, 5 months later, the top management and high potentials of the company are taking the next step – learning facilitation techniques to enable them take the participatory leadership path. Participatory leadership idea is built on the assumption that the knowledge, insights, and perspectives that will enable solving complex tasks, are with our people. Our aim is to learn to involve employees at all levels in the decision-making process, fostering a sense of ownership, empowerment, and engagement across the organization. We believe that with this approach we will be able to exploit the collective intelligence of the workforce to inform strategic decisions and solve the problems we face. Being a consultant that is applying her vast knowledge and practical experience in the topic of complexity Adrijana Strnad is THE person to empower and teach people. We had two great days with her. As part of their commitment to this mission, they recently hosted a thought-provoking session featuring Mr. Franklin Eleblu, a Christian leader making waves in the business world. Mr. Eleblu shared his wisdom on the topic, "Empowering Christians to Influence Business," and I'd like to highlight some significant takeaways from this enlightening session. A central theme of the discussion was the power of "influence." As Christians striving to advance God's Kingdom, our ability to influence is of paramount importance. Those who hold the pillars of society wield substantial influence over the experiences of others. Therefore, excelling in business or any other sphere of society provides us with a platform to showcase godly values to the world and the economic means to expand God's Kingdom. As Christians, we are imbued with the Spirit of God, an excellent Spirit that permeates every aspect of our lives. This means that we shouldn't settle for mediocrity but should continually aim for excellence. While compromise may seem tempting, our unwavering commitment to excellence will propel us forward and attract non-believers to our cause. We are described as salt and light, tasked with preserving integrity in the marketplace and showing people the way. Our primary focus should be on expanding the Kingdom of God and positively influencing the world. The cornerstone of our business and interactions with others should be integrity, even though it may be challenging. Lastly, involving the Lord in every business endeavour is the key to direction and success. We need not fear dominating the business sector as Christians. In an increasingly corrupt and morally challenged society, it's easy to doubt our ability to maintain our faith while impacting society's pillars. However, in reality, many individuals are conducting business with integrity, just as there were "7,000 others" who did not bow to Baal (1 Kings 19:18). We are surrounded by a multitude of committed Christian leaders ready to shape and influence our world with godly values and principles. I hope you are one of them. Leading with Purpose On this Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their lives were often in the hands of leaders, making decisions that could mean life or death – sometimes as simple as choosing to go left or right. As someone who has led men in combat I can tell you the weight of that responsibility is insurmountable. Although I was blessed and never lost a soldier in my direct care, I have several “memorial days” in my calendar from brothers I have lost. Here is a poem I wrote on one such day entitled; I Remember “I remember the day we left, The morning sun a muted gray, With promises of safe return, Unspoken fears we dared not say. I remember the silence after, A knock that shattered life and time, Faces blurred by endless tears, A brother lost in duty’s prime. I remember the day we left, The evening shadows, cold and stark, Returning home without your light, A journey home, forever dark. I remember the hollow ache, The nights that stretch without an end, A heart forever marked by grief, A wound that time can never mend. I remember the day we left” Jimmy Bates In the workplace, while the stakes may not be as final, the impact of leadership decisions is still profound. Today is National Bring your Daughters & Sons to Work Day!😍🎉 This is a photo of Grey my oldest daughter, on her most recent visit to our office. And it was my favorite visit to date!🫶🏽 Heres why👇 She helped remind me of a valuable lesson💡 It doesn’t matter if your 5 or 35 we all have an emotional need to feel like we belong, to feel like we are part of something bigger than ourselves. That’s why she connects with the key, that’s why she watches the videos I make, that’s why she throws up “the W” hand symbol, and thats why when I say “We are” she says back “Wurzak!”. It’s the same reason our team members do, and it’s the same reason it sparks interest with you… It’s because we’ve created a unified community, and we are all in search of a place to belong. And as leaders we have influence. We each have an opportunity to drive unity and community forward daily through our attitude and our actions. But no one’s gonna care, unless you do first.
