How important is an office today? For me, the ideal office is not a place to pile up files, but a communication center that invites dialogue and is easy to reach. This is exactly what we missed for a long time at our location in the Düsseldorf suburbs. That's why we have now finally moved with man and mouse. I could hold a Keynote speech at the 1st Placemaking Days Switzerland. In the presence of Stadtammann Daniel Mosimann (Mayor of Lenzburg) and more than 60 "placemakers" attending the event with its kick off in the Gloria Coworking Lenzburg. Topic of my presentation: «Placemaking & Co-Creation». With reference projects of our office gutundgut, I presented different possibilities of Co-Creation, with surprising outcome of such a process. Participation has a higher added value in certain cases, when not applied at the beginning of the project (the phase of ideas finding or vision), but in a later phase of the project development. And placemaking is not restricted to outdoor or indoor spaces. For us, it includes good buildings, successful events and temporary infills. Activity in Slovenia's office market has experienced an increase, resulting in a completion in the capital city, and ongoing projects are currently under construction with their delivery anticipated in the near future. Estonia to get its largest logistics and industry park East Capital Real Estate is building what it claims to be the largest logistics and light industry park in Estonia – the future East Capital Park Rae – a 140,000-square-metre (35-acre) logistics and light industry centre – will be located on a 30-hectare (70-acre) land plot next to Tallinn. Last Wednesday, I got a first look at our new Vattenfall office in Hamburg's HafenCity. In May 2024, we'll start something fresh there, and honestly, it's shaping up to be quite the place. The layout is something else. Instead of a big central atrium, there are winter gardens scattered around the building, making every corner feel alive with light and greenery. It's a simple touch, but it transforms the whole vibe of the place. This design detail from BEHNISCH ARCHITEKTEN allows for rather large main walkways in the center of the building, which are named after big streets in Hamburg, like Jungfernstieg, Reeperbahn and Lange Reihe. It feels like these paths aren't just for getting from one side of the office to another; they're for bumping into colleagues in the central coffee corners, having a spontaneous chat, or just enjoying a moment of connection. And for those times you need to buckle down and focus, there are quiet spots tucked away, giving you the best of both worlds.
