One of the things you hear a lot about during performance review time is about achieving goals. Sometimes those goals aren’t available within that organization. But as I always believe that you can work around things and MAKE your opportunities. Becoming President of the LIWLRA was a goal of mine, before I could articulate what I wanted to do. I have worked hard, in muddy situations, for this non-profit and have even handled some #crisiscommunication situations with a lot of grace and #thoughtleadership. In this role, Pete serves as the Chief Executive Officer for ARG affiliated companies, which includes the Housing Authority of DeKalb County (HADC), the Housing Development Corporation (HDC). Pete shared a terrific story with me about connecting deeply to the impact and mission of the work he does every day. And what he looks for when he brings talent into his organization. I’m hitting harder in 2024 in everything I do. The sparring gloves are coming off, my friends. I’m keeping just enough leather to protect the skin of my knuckles-- that’s it. I’m ready. Are you? I’m most excited about my plans to #serve and #giveback more than ever before, and I have two big #volunteer moves coming, which I’ll preview now: Pro bono executive search consulting – In January I am launching a pro bono executive search practice for the #nonprofitsector, saving a select few #nonprofits $50k-$200k per search I conduct. And I do mean a select few. I will only have capacity to offer a small number of #searches per year. But I’ll be bringing my 20+ years of #nonprofit leadership experience to full bear to connect outstanding organizations with outstanding leaders... for free! Board service – In January I’ll be joining the board of a growth-stage statewide nonprofit organization that is making a real difference and saving lives. This is an exciting time to contribute to the #governance and #development of the #organization, and I’m teaming up with seasoned leaders across a broad range of skills and expertise to take the scope and scale to the next level. 🥊 But this changing of gloves isn’t just about what I’ll be doing. It’s about how I’ll be doing it, across everything I do—my #executiveleadership, my #coalition work, my #volunteerism, and more. I’m #diplomatic by nature, and that won’t change, but those who interact with me will feel a different #energy. 🥊 Those #collaborating with me will know I’m fighting and protecting alongside them harder than ever before.💪 Harder.
