This week our Head of Human Capital in Ireland, Mairead O'Mahony, shared her views with the The Irish Times on the transformative impact of the soon to be introduced pension auto-enrolment system. The landmark new system will launch in January 2025 and will help to create a more equitable pensions system in Ireland. Published this week, findings from Aon’s new pension auto-enrolment report reveal that most employers believe the new system can help to reduce the gender pensions gap in Ireland. However, the current scheme does miss opportunities to fully close the gap. Additional measures, such as lowering salary thresholds for the scheme, can help address the gender pension gap once and for all and create a fairer system fit for the future.
