More than 500,000 children have been added to the Metroplex’s population since 2010, and another 158,000 are expected to become residents by 2028, according to Children’s. Chronic Low Back Pain affects an immense proportion of the population and greatly impacts our ability to be productive. The WHO has added further to the discussion with the release of its recommendations for care guidelines. The growing body of evidence continues to direct us to active rehabilitation strategies and specific instruction to avoid passive modalities along with certain pharmacological interventions. #healthandsafety #rehabilitation #constructionsafety

Last week our association emailed us with some great news: The World Health Organisation (WHO) launched its new ***[Guideline for the Non-Surgical Management of Chronic Primary Low Back Pain in Adults in Primary and Community Care Settings], which provides evidence-informed recommendations on non-surgical interventions for chronic primary LBP (CPLBP), to improve CPLBP-related health and wellbeing outcomes. The Guideline Development Group included chiropractors and received evidence commissioned by WHO. Some of the recommendations made in the Guideline include: - Spinal manipulation was one of the physical therapies recommended for use in all patients, as well as physical therapies such as, dry needling, a structured exercise program and massage. I have been treating patients for around 10 years and use a multidisciplinary model to help those patients suffering with low back pain overcome their injury. A thorough history is taken, in-depth assessment, discussion about our findings and then we start the treatment plan. This plan generally includes manipulation/mobility, massage, dry needling and an exercise plan (we use physitrack as a great way to send patients there exercises).
