An incredible evening spent in the company of potential Presidential material, including the articulate and data-savvy daughter of an Army General. Back in 1999, a groundbreaking achievement was made when Mace became the first woman to graduate from the Corps of Cadets program at The Citadel. Recently, I had the privilege of attending a Meet and Greet Reception at The World Trade Center, DC, featuring The Honorable Nancy Mace, a distinguished member of the House Armed Services Committee. The event was graced by a select group including Major General Norbert Huber, Col. Rastislav Janota, Hon. Luis G. Fortunio, and Nelson Garcia, among others. During the gathering, I was honored to receive a thoughtful gift from Satoshi Nishahata, the Washington Bureau Chief of The Liberty Japan – a book titled "The Laws of the Sun: One Source, One Planet, One People." #Networking #WashingtonDC #ProfessionalDevelopment

This was a great event for so many reasons. In our industry, we hear about rapid changes A LOT, but I left the event with a sense that the trajectory is increasing at an unprecedented rate. All of my take-aways were based on this: ▶ In the Great Wealth Transfer, it’s expected that between $60 and $84 trillion will be transferred from boomers to their heirs between now and 2045 (with a substantial portion occurring by next year), ▶ Rapidly increasing mental capacity concerns have trustees considering the need for established, in-office, mental health training, ▶ Rapid changes in are also occurring in the Middle East, with the next generation of wealth owners moving towards more westernised approaches to wealth management within families. Really interesting conversations also around the use of foundations as opposed to trusts and other alternatives, and the prospect of mandatory ESG in trust structures. Richard Shirreff bought the house down with his keynote on building resilience in businesses, drawing on the current geopolitical landscape to present his step- plan.
