My article at Business Forward AUC: The End of the Petrodollar: Unraveling the Future of Global Oil Trade and Economic Power "The crux of the matter is that the petrodollar agreement end shouldn’t have major implications, given Saudi oil will stay to be quoted and sold mostly in US dollar due to US dollar liquidity and convertibility, while the recycling of the Saudi oil proceeds into US treasuries has become less relevant, given the current low level of Saudi surplus and the huge expansion of Saudi into giga projects requiring the use of all its oil proceeds as well as borrowing in international markets to finance its ambitious vision." Recent headlines have falsely claimed the end of the Saudi-U.S. petrodollar agreement. Here's what you need to know: Historical Context: The petrodollar system originated in the 1970s, driven by economic necessities and strategic partnerships, particularly the U.S.-Saudi agreement that bolstered the dollar's global dominance. No Formal Contracts: Contrary to popular belief, there was never a formal contract mandating exclusive dollar-based oil sales between Saudi Arabia and the U.S. The arrangement was based on mutual economic interests and strategic agreements. Dollar Dominance Continues: Despite rumors, the U.S. dollar remains the principal currency for global oil transactions, upheld by existing financial structures and widespread dollar reserves. However, future developments could affect this dynamic. The petrodollar system remains a fundamental aspect of global finance, and recent reports of its collapse are unfounded based on current data. Consider three critical questions before deciding to penetrate the Saudi Water Market. 💹 I started market research about the Saudi Water Treatment market in February 2023 and ended by attending the Global Water Expo last week. My visits to Saudi Arabia were full of meetings with water experts and legal specialists to understand the advantages and limitations. The questions are ⬇ 1- What are you specialized in? In Saudi, you can not do everything. There is a license for Services, another for trading, and another for manufacturing. Every License type has its requirements; the most difficult is the trading license. 2- Why are you unique? The Saudi market is already big and has a high future potential. Still, on the other side, the Saudi government tries to minimize the barriers to entry to the market to attract global experts, which means it will be very competitive. So you should know how to be exceptional in the market for easier penetration and future competition. 3- New Branch or Partner? Saudi Customers require good attention and consider quality service, follow-up, and fast response very seriously. So you should check your resources and capabilities to do that over a large geographical area, such as in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. If you can not now, assigning one or multiple partners to help you in that mission is better. If you have more questions or information, please add it in the comments. Good luck to all my colleagues. 😊 #saudiarabia #water #environment #market #penetration #meyahh
