Visited Horizon Pulp & Paper Ltd. as part of Presidnet Tharman Shanmugaratnam official visit to Estonia. The company is part of the Tolaram Group which is a Singapore enterprise. Learnt how Horizon Pulp & Paper manufactures unbleached kraft Paper which is used in many applications such as cement sacks, insulating material, food packaging and pH neutral anti-corrosion packaging. These products are used across 70 countries and are recyclable, renewable, reusable and biodegradable. It was interesting to see how they manufactured paper in a sustainable way through the combined use of reforestation, maximising yield from the raw materials, reusing wood waste and sawdust as biofuel and self-contained heating systems. Interesting to witness how Singaporean companies are partnering and operating at a global stage!

Today, we had the honour of hosting the President of the Republic of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, at Horizon Pulp & Paper Ltd. as part of his two-day official visit to #Estonia. President Tharman is particularly keen on #sustainability and we are delighted that we had the opportunity to showcase the environmental sustainability infrastructure we have at Horizon that enables our business to already exceed the EU2030 climate targets for reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and renewable energy share. He was accompanied by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Education Dr Maliki Osman; Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth Alvin Tan; Members of Parliament Mr Sitoh Yih Pin, Mr Mohamed Sharael Bin Mohd Taha and a Singapore delegation.
