Just wrapped up a 45-minute walk post-workout on this beautiful 4th of July. It's these moments - when you're spent, when it's a holiday, when no one's watching - that truly builds character. Discipline isn't about doing the work when you feel like it; it's about doing it even when you don't. Walking these quiet streets, I was reminded why having an ego isn't always a bad thing. It's not about showing off, but about showcasing what's possible. It's about inspiring others to reach for their own stars. And in turn, we have a responsibility to give back. Not just monetarily, but through acts of gratitude and kindness. It’s about influencing perceptions, not just acknowledging them. And the best way to influence? Be genuine, be kind, be real. I won't lie – I don’t always feel motivated to hit the gym. But I do it. Every day. Because pushing through, committing to challenges, even on the days when you don't feel like it, that’s how you build momentum. That’s how you build resilience. So here's my challenge to you: do something today that your future self will thank you for. Don't make excuses. Just get out there and make it happen. For the past two years, I've had the privilege of building a startup with Kevin Bastoul, one the best engineers I know and my best friend from kindergarten. Since our founding, Kevin has been dealing with Long Covid, an experience that has prevented him from living his life like the person I've always known. Despite this condition, Kevin successfully led (and continutes to lead) engineering to build and grow Synaptiq. Many people are unfamiliar with this condition, and spreading awareness is key to the development of effective treatment.

My 6-month sabbatical has just begun, and thanks to the work that has made Josh's and my relationship dramatically different now than it has been for much of our 20 years together, I'm delving into the work I've been talking about here: love and relationships. In short, it's actually about uprooting the patriarchy, one relationship at a time... for as we see the insidious nature of the mindsets and patterns that have infiltrated smart, loving people and relationships, we have the opportunity to start challenging the status quo in powerful ways that disarm and neutralize without needing to instill more fear of being dominated, or becoming an oppressor. That's the bigger vision I'm working on. In the meantime, I'm wasting no time in getting into that work through my upcoming workshop, coming off of Valentine's Day! While celebrating Father’s Day this past weekend, the question popped into my mind of ‘What type of legacy do I want to leave for my son?’ I think it is an important question for all of us parents to reflect on. However, in our busy lives, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters. Here is the legacy I want my son to know about his dad as it pertains to my career: 1) I stayed true to my values & priorities I have 5 main pillars for my values that I call the F5s: Faith, Family, Fitness, Finances, and Friends.  These pillars shape everything I do, from my career decisions to personal growth. 2) No matter the role or work, I gave it my all This is a gentle reminder for me of the work I want to provide: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters” Colossians 3:23-24 3) I choose Courage over Comfort All the magic happens outside of our comfort zone. Whether that be starting a new project at work, starting a new campaign, or acquiring another multifamily building all the magic happens outside the comfort zone. Stay tuned as I share insights on: - Identifying a vision and sticking to it - Balancing a fulfilling career with a busy personal life - Becoming an asset in your company and acquiring cash flow-producing assets like real estate Whether you are a parent or not, do yourself a favor and think about the legacy you want to leave.

As we go about our daily lives, it's easy to forget the journey that brought us to where we are today. But taking a moment to reflect on our past can be a powerful reminder of how far we've come. We've all faced challenges and overcome obstacles to get to where we are today. So take a moment to stop and look around. Today is my first day at my new job. Here’s every unique piece of advice about changing careers from my mentors, friends, and family over the last 3 months:

Today is National Goof Off Day. And no one celebrated it better than Ferris Bueller. His motto was "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop to look around once in a while you could miss it." And he most certainly lived by his words. Ferris managed to fake sick his way into his 9th day off of the year ("Nine times"); sing in a parade; impersonate Abe Froman, The Sausage King of Chicago to sneak his friends into an elite restaurant; go to a Cubs game; and convince Cameron to let the trio of friends " "borrow" his dad's 1961 Ferrari 250GT California for a day of adventures that the parking valets also enjoyed for a few hours. Ferris taught us to embrace life in the moment. Take a day off of work or school not because of a planned vacation or because you have a life event that needs attention. Take a day off to do something you've never done before. Do something fun. Do something crazy. Do something fun and crazy. And when you decide to take that day off, remember what Ferris said when Cameron asked him this about their upcoming day off: Cameron: "What are we going to do?" Ferris: "The question isn't, 'What are we going to do?'. The question is 'What aren't we going to do?" Happy National Goof Off Day!
