Our weekly recap of what’s been happening in the Australian car market 👀 With more equipment the Mercedes-Benz GLS 600 Maybach had the biggest price increase of the year (+$40k) jumping to $490k drive away. Coming in at around $150k cheaper is the all-new EQS SUV Maybach which is now live. Only two weeks after it’s launch the petrol MG3 has found itself coming down -5% to a national drive away price starting from $24,990. There's also the N-TREK variants of the Nissan X-Trail which have been released and will prove a popular choice in this booming segment. Honda Beat, Suzuki Jimny, Nissan Skyline: The Dopest Cars I Found For Sale Online: Y’know what’s great? Japan. Is there any country that’s produced a higher rate of cool cars relative to normal ones? I doubt it. Maybe Sweden, with its Saabs and Volvos, but Japan would certainly win out on sheer volume of neat cars. Not to get all Thing, Japan about it, but JDM cars are just — on average — cooler. First presented in Europe 55 years ago: The Ford Capri 🤩 How do you like it? ➖ Ford wanted to bring the success of the Mustang to Europe with the "pony car". The target group: 18 to 29-year-olds with sporty aspirations. ➖ The surprising success immediately brought it competition: Opel followed up with the Manta A in 1970, opening up THE hot rod duel in the 70s, complete with tuning excesses. After three generations, a large number of model variants and around 1.8 million units built, the end came in 1986. Only 3,000 examples of the Capri 1 still exist, which are highly sought-after on the classic car market.

Australia remains one of the biggest markets for BMW M cars in the world, according to global BMW M boss Frank van Meel. In Australia for a flying visit, Mr van Meel told Drive our market ranks as one of the top markets in the world in terms of the percentage of BMW sales that are M cars. “[Australia is] in the top three [with] 25 per cent M vehicle sales,” Mr van Meel told Drive.

"You find a suitably luxurious ambience inside the BMW i5, with everything feeling well assembled, lots of soft, padded surfaces on the dashboard and glossy trim finishes throughout. As a result, it's significantly classier inside than the rival Mercedes EQE, which has plenty of initial wow factor, but feels disappointingly flimsy in places once you start touching things. Then again, the i5 is a very expensive car and isn't anywhere near as plush inside as the flagship" Its not only one of my favourites it has been one of the best selling cars this year!! 🚗 No more company car for me! After three decades of steering through the slow and the fast lane, today marks a significant shift as I decided not to take another company car and gave back my last one. 🌟 I've had the privilege of being accompanied by a succession of company cars since 1994 that were more than mere means of transportation—they were silent companions through countless meetings, endless phone calls in traffic jams, great trips with the family throughout Europe, and much more. 🔙 And yes, I am emotional and nostalgic about it, as all these cars were important to me at their time. From the humble yet sprightly Renault Twingo – two-seated to get a fiscal advantage in Paris - , which kicked off our journey in 1994, to the state-of-the-art electric Porsche Taycan that I bid farewell to today, each car has been a testament to the era it represented. They've witnessed the changing landscapes of both roads and business, adapting to the pace of innovation and the shifts towards sustainability. 🤔 One thing I noted, which makes me sad, is that the size, the weight, and thus the consumption did increase over time.
