Today marks the start of National Road Safety Week. It's an important date to remind us of the needless tragedies taking place on Australian roads. Every year more than 1200 people are killed on our roads and more than 44,000 seriously injured. That's tens of thousands of families whose lives are changed forever in a split second. The annual initiative, delivered by the Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) group aims to highlight the impact of road trauma and how to reduce it. At Shine, we deal with the after-effects of road trauma every day, advocating for justice for our clients and their families whose lives have often been significantly affected. Today we pause to remember the 1200 and implore everyone to take care on our roads. Together we can make driving safer and reduce the tragic toll, so let's Drive So Others Survive. As we mark "Share the Street" day this National Road Safety Week, let's remember that every person on the road is someone's family or friend. Last year in NSW, road fatalities increased sharply, with 351 lives lost. An alarming 1.8 million adults in NSW now know someone killed on the roads, reflecting the wide-reaching impact of road trauma. These aren't just statistics; they represent entire communities devastated by preventable losses. This Road Safety Week, let’s pledge to drive with care and respect for everyone’s safety. #NationalRoadSafetyWeek #ShareTheStreet #RoadTraumaSupport #RTSG #TowardsZero

🚨 Dramatic Truck Rescue in the US 🚨 This is the moment a truck driver was rescued from as her lorry dangled over the edge of The Clark Memorial Bridge in Louisville, Kentucky. A recent incident in Kentucky serves as a stark reminder of the importance of not only situational awareness and fatigue management but also rescue and emergency preparedness in any situation. Following a crash on the highway, the lorry was left hanging over the boundary of an overpass, prompting a swift response from emergency services. While fortunately, there were no serious injuries reported, the scene underscores the critical need for readiness in times of crisis. Did you know that fatigue is a leading cause of road accidents in the UK? According to statistics, tiredness contributes to around 20% of accidents on major roads. This highlights the importance of rest and proper fatigue management, especially for drivers who play a crucial role in rescue and emergencies. https://lnkd.in/eqN7cTwU #EmergencyPreparedness #RescueReadiness #SafetyAwareness #SituationalAwareness #StaySafe #roadsafety #fatiguemanagement #safety

Watching the NYSDOT video is yet another jarring reminder of how vital it is to stay vigilant in work zones. Our crews invest their time and energy to enhance our roads for safer commutes, moving products and services, and connecting communities. It’s our DUTY to protect them. These are people’s sons and daughters, mothers and fathers. Their families count on them to come home. 1. Slow Down: Speed kills. 2. Stay Alert: Avoid distractions. 3. Respect Signs: Follow directions. 4. Be Patient: Road work is essential.
Another completely preventable work zone incident - Our crews put their lives on the line daily to keep NY roads safe for you. Their request is simple: slow down, move over when possible, and stay alert. Fortunately, this crew wasn’t seriously injured in this recent incident on I-88 in Otsego County, but it could have been much worse.
