So the average profit margin for a #freightforwarder and #customsbrokerage is 3.5%. I know there are instances where the margins are alot higher....let's do some math. 200 requests a week 60% are lost for various reasons including response time That is 120 RFQ's that vanished in thin air----to your competitor Assuming each shipment has a revenue of $100, that means the average profit for the forwarder is $3.50. That seems low right? However, over 120 lost opportunities, that equates to $12,000 in revenue and $420 in profit for the week. Over the course of 50 weeks that is $600,000 in revenue and $21,000 in profit. We all know I left plenty of wiggle room in these numbers. This revenue and profits could go into benefits for employees, the raise that was not previously possible, or aiding the team in keeping their industry skills as sharp as their closing skills. Idk about you but a $21,000 raise seems pretty sweet. ⚠ Costs are on the rise for small parcel shippers. Stay informed about FedEx's upcoming changes in their latest update on August 15th. New "Demand surcharges" will take effect from September 30th, 2024. Ship larger packages? Expect to pay a minimum of $7.75 more per package until January 19th, 2025.
