Have you ever wondered where did Visa actually come from and how did it came to be? As the holiday season is upon us and one might have more time to enjoy entertainment, I’d like to share this interesting podcast that dives into the history of Visa and payment networks. If you listen to it and find it insighful I would love to hear your thoughts on it. :) What surprised you the most? https://lnkd.in/dxSSKjyi

You know what stinks? Putting in months and months of work building a music tech startup only to realize nobody wants to pay to use it. I’ve got a thought exercise for you. I want to take you through over a dozen startup categories and ask you how close you are to the exchange of money. We’ll go through the B2C categories, the B2B categories, and B2A… Business-to-Artist. Why? Because I want you to save months or even years of trouble! And hundreds of thousands of dollars. On the latest Music Tectonics “How to Startup” podcast, I go solo and get into the weeds to help you FOLLOW THE MONEY. Listen everywhere pods are cast.

Last month, I received the Spotify Wrapped (year-end metrics) for Trust and Trade, one of the two flagship podcasts of the American Bar Association’s Section of Antitrust Law. 2023 was a big year for Trust and Trade. I took over as host in January with episode #19 (Illumina/GRAIL). Since I began hosting, the average number of downloads in the first 30 days per episode are up +681%; the mean is up +1606%; the average total downloads per episode have gone up +217%; and the mean is up +305%. Among the interesting tidbits from Spotify, we’re now in 23(!) countries, with the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, Germany, and France rounding out the top 5. None of this would have happened without our amazing guests - no one tunes in to Trust and Trade to hear what I think. Thank you Bill Batchelor, Paul Csiszar, Jennifer Milici, Travis Wheeler, Richard Powers, Michael Hausfeld, Michael Murray, Tee St. Matthew-Daniel, Lauren Willard, Chris Young, Kathleen McMahon, Steve Tugander, Bob Hubbard, Anna Pletcher, David Cross, Dr. Laila Haider, Rich Cunningham, Hon. Noah Phillips, Maneesha Mithal, Ioana Gorecki, Greg Fortsch, John Villafranco, Katie McInnis, Nina Frant, David Golden, Melissa Maxman, Kathleen Bradish, Daniel Kaufman, and Sam Levine for being such amazing guests this year. And none of us get paid for this - the Section generously underwrites the studio costs, but everything else is done on a voluntary basis, by practitioners and experts from the antitrust, consumer protection, and privacy communities who just really enjoy talking about this stuff. Lastly, here’s my favorite (and most puzzling) insight from Spotify Wrapped. We’re a top 10 podcast for 48 fans; a top 5 podcast for 30 fans; and the top podcast for 8 fans. So, me, obviously. But who are the other 7?? It’s not my wife and in-laws, they listen to way more podcasts, and we only come out once a month. Whoever you are, mystery super fans, I love you, and stay tuned for loads more original content coming your way in 2024! https://lnkd.in/eBKbGHQu
