At the Snowflake Data for Breakfast event. Talking about AI/ML on the Snowflake platform. Pretty interesting, well-framed argument for doing everything within their ecosystem. They’ve built tons of tooling to make life easy for scalable AI app dev and distribution. Very appealing walled garden. Having written both positively and critically about Snowflake and their marketplace/app ecosystem, it’s interesting to hear how they position it all and gloss over some of the platform constraints. Really surprised at the huge turnout for this event. But everyone wants AI and wants to move fast. Looks like that’s definitely an option with Snowflake.

I'm excited to share that I joined Snowflake, a leader in AI-driven data solutions, a couple of months ago. During these two months, I've been purely learning about the Snowflake ecosystem, and I’m incredibly impressed by what I’ve seen. My role involves guiding customers through implementing advanced AI solutions, leveraging tools like Snowflake Cortex AI, Arctic, and Document AI. - Arctic: An efficient, open-source large language model (LLM) optimized for enterprise intelligence. - Cortex AI: A fully managed service offering serverless access to state-of-the-art AI models and tools. - Document AI: Powered by our proprietary Arctic-TILT model, it extracts valuable insights from unstructured documents. One of the most exciting aspects is the ability to leverage AI models directly from SQL, Python, or even through the user interface, enabling any persona to harness the power of AI. This makes AI more accessible and easier to integrate into various business processes. What impresses me most about Snowflake is that it is a single platform that is easy to use, powerful, and offers low-cost management. In most of my previous roles and with other platforms I have used, unifying data was a significant challenge, making it difficult to apply machine learning effectively. Snowflake addresses these issues seamlessly. Additionally, Snowflake is pushing the boundaries of AI performance by getting onboard top researchers, including the authors of ZeRO and DeepSpeed, ensuring our models are at the cutting edge of efficiency and scalability. I’m honored to be part of a company shaping the future of AI and data management.
