I recently had the privilege of being invited by Smarak Swain to the Rashtrapati Bhavan at the Indian Ministry of Finance block. Our discussions centered around his insightful book "Digital Fortunes," which offered profound insights into the burgeoning field of digital assets in India. Smarak Swain, with his robust background from the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) and Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, offers invaluable insights in 'Digital Fortunes.' His book effectively captures the role of emerging technologies like AI, 5G, Blockchain and Digital Assets in transforming economic systems, addressing the intricate challenges of valuation and the critical aspects of regulation that shape this fast-evolving sector. Drawing parallels between "Digital Fortunes" and my own work, "Protocols of Money," I've long advocated for the transformative power of blockchain and digital assets. As an Indian-Australian, I've observed the power of strategic international alignments and their potential to shape industries. This experience underscores the importance of similar collaborations in the digital assets space, particularly in the APAC region, reflecting the cooperative spirit of the QUAD nations—India, Australia, Japan, and the USA. In regions like Australia, Steve Vallas leads Blockchain APAC, bringing together industry leaders and fostering a collaborative approach to business processes and regulatory frameworks. His work enhances the digital assets landscape significantly. Meanwhile, in India, R Venkatesh (Venkat) at CoinSwitch with Bharat Web3 Association drives essential policy and regulatory developments in the crypto and blockchain ecosystem, advocating for frameworks that benefit all stakeholders. My engagement with the Blockchain Governance Initiative Network, alongside respected colleagues such as Chloe White, Jessica Mila Schutzman, Esq., CTCE, CIPP/E, Joseph Beverley, Mitchell Travers, Takaya Sugino and other respected colleagues, aims to create a robust framework for blockchain development. This initiative is committed to fostering a shared language and integrating academic integrity to provide reliable resources for sustainable advancements in blockchain technology. These efforts are complemented by The Proof Of Work Podcast, where I extend these critical discussions to a broader audience, featuring diverse expert perspectives. Thank you, Smarak, for your enlightening conversation and the gracious hospitality. The insights from "Digital Fortunes" are invaluable for anyone navigating the complex interplay of technology and finance. I eagerly anticipate how our joint efforts will drive the advancement of digital assets in a carefully thoughtful regulated manner worldwide.
